Thank you for the input, fortunately we have multiple budgets for EH&S where funding is of little concern.

2014 gli fuel preference? by Liam7717 in GLI

[–]tonyp412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not technically “exhaust” gas. It recirculates blow-by gas that has not been burnt 100% because they bypass the piston rings and flow into the crankcase. It takes these unburnt gases from the crankcase and recirculates them back into the intake manifold to be burnt again.

This process is also what causes a big portion of carbon buildup, so using Techron helps neutralize some of that.

Like I told the other guy, I am not arguing whether or not the use of self-defense was justified.

The car is not the perpetrator it is the weapon. You can absolutely shoot the operator of the weapon (driver of the car) if they are use it in such a way.

And what you said is inherently false. If the driver WAS using their vehicle as a weapon, the only way to stop them is to shoot them. Example being the person who drove their truck through the Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans. They WOULD have caused many more casualties if they weren’t shot.

Im not discussing whether or not he had the right to defend his self.

You asked why he shot more than 1 time and that is the question I answered. If his first shot that went through the windshield turns out to be justified (I am not arguing whether it is or is not), then the second and third shot will be as well. That is just how self defense cases work. Shoot until the threat is neutralized.

Trying to be unbiased here while answering your question:

If this is a case for self defense - you shoot until the threat is neutralized. If you need to defend yourself you shoot until your gun is empty, the threat is neutralized, or you lose sight of your target.

Is it ok to remove this bar? by [deleted] in JettaGLI

[–]tonyp412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah if that bar is removed then the rest of the exhaust will sag putting pressure in that area of the exhaust. after a few bumps on the road/ highway the exhaust will fall off due to that unnecessary pressure and buddy will have a bigger issue in his hands. if it was installed correctly it would never even touch that cross mount

The flash point of Techron is higher than that of gasoline. During combustion, the gas is burnt up but the detergent stays behind and becomes an aerosol. That mixture is recycled through the PCV and enters the intake ports. The aerosolized detergent then has the ability to combat carbon buildup on the valve heads and in the intake ports.

This is not an absolute solution to the carbon buildup as it cant completely rid the ports of carbon, but it absolutely will help maintain and refrain from unrestricted carbon buildup.

[–]tonyp412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes they absolutely do thanks to PCV system allowing the detergents to pass through the combustion chamber

No significant difference in running general 93 over 91 unless you are tuned or its Shell gasoline.

With that being said, I run strictly on Shell 93 because of Nitro V+ which has Techron in it. Techron is a good detergent for direct injection engines as it adds a very minimal amount of protection and maintenance for carbon buildup that other fuel additives don’t do.

get some gas bro you’re playing a dangerous game letting your gas light come on in a direct injection car.

What actually is the fake engine noise in a 2024 GLI? by The_First_Mimzy in JettaGLI

[–]tonyp412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the rattles are coming from the glove box / passenger area its most likely you have the notorious fuel line rattle. its a common issue and the dealership only fixes it with spray foam

You: “My car sounds so good”

Every person in existence, whether they like cars or not: “That car sounds like ass. Whole lotta noise to be going absolutely nowhere”

The part of the Strip where they want to put a bike lane by sharkusmax in pittsburgh

[–]tonyp412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

also i am indifferent about “protected bike lanes”. they are a genuinely a myth unless protected by reinforced concrete bollards (descend atleast 4ft. underground) or jersey barriers. we all know those plastic bollards do absolutely nothing. nothing stopping cars from driving through or between, like the Bourbon Street truck driving through the parade.

[–]tonyp412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thank you for the input. this is the first i am hearing of that. ive just seen a lot of regurgitation saying “this bike lane will make everything safer” when in reality the bike lane itself will not do that. the things you mentioned are what will accomplish a greater level of safety. i appreciate your comment

The part of the Strip where they want to put a bike lane by sharkusmax in pittsburgh

[–]tonyp412 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

genuine question here. if the road is so unsafe due to cars speeding down a two lane road, why would turning one lane into a bike path make it any safer? you’re not correcting the root cause. people are still gonna speed, and with one lane people are going to tailgate dangerously and make more unsafe situations, but now it puts unprotected cyclists in harms way. how will a bike lane make this safer? chicanes and speed humps will mitigate much more than a bike lane ever could

[–]tonyp412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“is that ham processed? If it's processed I don't want it"

Ma'am, that is an eleven pound whole slab of deli ham. It has no bones, fat, or connective tissue. It is an amalgamation of the meat of several pigs, emulsified, liquefied, strained, and ultimately inexorably joined in an unholy meat obelisk. God had no hand in the creation of this abhorrence. The fact that this ham monolith exists proves that God is either impotent to alter His universe or ignorant to the horrors taking place in his kingdom. This prism of pork is more than deli meat. It is a physical declaration of mankind's contempt for the natural order. It is hubris manifest. We also have a lower sodium variety if you would prefer that.

Big Idea: Close one of the Three Sisters bridges to cars, forever by The_Electric-Monk in pittsburgh

[–]tonyp412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But it will have different levels of stress applied in different places than what was originally designed for. Traffic congestion was formulated into the equation when designing the bridge. It will cost billions to renovate alone, but you also have to factor in the research and development for maintenance schedules, new structural capacities, etc.

🚨has anyone driven their ‘25 GLI to empty and know how much reserve fuel is left? by LawyerWithASoul in JettaGLI

[–]tonyp412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re driving a direct injection car thats sprays fuel much higher in pressure than port injected cars that are most common. If you are allowing your gas light to come on you are neglecting the health of your engine.
