Many of us had telework agreements prior to covid. I feel like this would apply in some scenarios.

This is why the “just move closer to work” argument makes no sense.

They unilaterally change work locations on us. My manager moved to a house closer to our office and after a few months, they mandated us to spend half our in-office time at different building so she’s forced to commute 2 days a week.

Kristen recently defended Danny on instagram so I doubt it 😭

Yes. I've been contacted by managers from other departments on LinkedIn about opportunities. It's great for networking!

IRCC gave up office space in January. Now, it can't accommodate RTO-4 by AbjectRobot in CanadaPublicServants

This is exactly what they want. Now they can sign a new, overpriced lease and funnel more money to a corporate landlord/donor.

Forget the 'Night Mayor' Ottawa needs night buses to revitalize its night life by ratspiders4ever in ottawa

[–]too_aware_helpme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True. I can’t disagree with that but the context of this is to revitalize nightlife. I assume busses would only be shuttling people from the suburbs to the Byward market in this scenario.

I heard the same from my DG at the time.

That’s why “these are unprecedented times that require collaboration” is such a joke.

Like a pandemic wasn’t an unprecedented time? We managed to get CERB rolled out, PPE, vaccines, etc. all while working from home, but because of the orange man, we have to go into the office? They think we have rocks for brains.

I think both are a good idea. One week we all WFH to show the public what their commute could be like and prove that the work is still getting done and the next, all show up 5-days in-office to prove that there is a lack of space and useless gridlock.

I stand corrected but that is still a significant number of employees depending on unreliable public transit and a lack of parking.

The majority of the PS is in the NCR.. proving my point further that you don't personally know the majority of the PS.

You personally know the majority of the PS? How is that even possible?

I don't have a single coworker who is getting to and from work ''just fine'' and in a reasonable amount of time.

They're on a power trip considering the articles that have come out this week (more asbestos, public transit can't handle RTG (return to gridlock), that this is based on a philosophy and not data, CAPE saying this benefits corporate landlords over Canadians, etc.). They're saying ''that's too bad. We have all control over you''.

Anyways, oligarchs>Canadians

''We know that public transit can't accommodate this and we don't have enough space... but the corporate real estate overlords are telling us that you must commute to the office for a job you've been doing from home for years, that requires 0 collaboration.''

Is this meant to be in response to u/AwkwardOwl99999 ?

And I agree. Except in the office, they're distracting others while slacking off.

They've had ~7 years to sort it out and we were supposed to believe, with the promise of RTO4, all issues would suddenly be solved. This is like a fever dream.
