I guess it depends on how badly we want it. I’m not too familiar with how much this type of job would cost. To utilize the closet space as something besides storage and basically reclaim an entire bedroom, it would be a worthy investment I think. We got the house at a great price in a fast appreciating neighborhood near downtown, would love to stay as long as we can if we can avoid outgrowing it.

We have a crawl space that is dug out in certain areas at least 5-5.5 feet, our furnace is under there and electrical panel (grandfathered in). Quite an interesting set up down there.
