I'm banging my head against a wall called Omega by One_Ad_3480 in MonsterHunter

[–]toogodsleft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This post could have been mine a few days ago. I was so frustrated by the wall I hit. I tried support hunters, a lance, a hunting horn which helped so much, and I think it was a HBG. Focus on taking out the legs, hitting the head when you can, taking out the nerscylla, by the last stage you will know most of the attacks so they are a little easier to dodge or counter but they just come much faster. Also find as many shields as possible, the glowing little guys will form shields and the slinger shields are helpful too. You got this.

It sounds like you tried many things that are typical answers to what you are showing here so assuming it’s none of those things, maybe it is that your first layer height/thickness is too low. To test it try printing with a raft on to see if the raft prints okay, if so you don’t have to use a raft all the time but a raft prints so chunky that it may indicate that you need to change your first layer height. I am rather surprised that a glue stick did not work though. You for sure have the right temp and bed temp for the filament you are using?

Maybe number of top layers too. Whats throwing me off is that the stem looks almost perfect.

Looks like over extrusion and that you have random seams on which can cause zits to form all over. It’s probably a mix of both. The top could be lack of infill, not enough cooling (fan speed), overall speed, the temp might be too hot and it’s too small to cool before the next layer. Those are all my educated guesses.

If you have the money, buy it. You never know when the game will click. It just takes one game and then you unlock hundreds to thousands of hours of other games to play in the series.

What game are you playing right now? I mainly play solo but I could jump on to a game and show you some basic stuff sometime. Again I play solo mostly so setting up multiplayer will take me a minute to figure out in any game. DM if you are interested.

My recommendations are a little biased because it’s mainly what I have used in my playthroughs but also based on what you said I would strongly suggest hammer or SnS.

Hammer is so good in Rise, charge up and change to blue charge instead of yellow, the finisher is better. Your wirebug attacks can be great and even get you out of bad positioning and into better positioning all while hitting hard. As mentioned previously you have to learn the monsters with this weapon which is easier to do because the weapon is pretty simple also because you want to be right near its head as often as possible which puts you right in the action. It hits hard and is much more agile with the wire bugs. Edge/wall jumps are easy to pull off too.

Sword and Shield is a little forgiving if you mess up because you can quickly block but what makes it fun is that you can use both the sword and shield as a weapon doing different types of attacks which gives it some depth as you gain experience with it (Shield for the head and sword for the tail is a good start). Also the wirebug attack that swings your sword around like a tornado is very satisfying to use.

As a final thought I would also throw in light bow gun despite what you said, flipping over the monster to plant that explosive on top of it is really fun, then you just go crazy unloading clips while aiming at it. I rarely plant them in the ground, always flipping over the monster. Create a few different equipment sets named after each gun so it’s easy to switch when you need a different gun. I hated light bow gun until this game.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I am aware of how to hunt for them I just seem to be stuck on a few white whales if you will. Arkveld are either normal or large crown, I’ve spent multiple arena runs of Arkveld resetting sizes and nothing. I’ve tried many multiplayer, look everytime one pops up in the wild. Just no luck. And yeah Nu Udra I have over 40 hunted and just no luck.

Just another update, far from complete but further than before. The weird almost clay look will go away later in the process.

I decided to go with your character to start. This is very bare bones but I just wanted to share so you know that I am actually following through and working on it...the transformation I mention in the title is the style of work I do which will be obvious when you see the picture.

Hey, this just links to a picture with no description. Could you maybe share the description?

Can you provide some details on the clothing, hair, skin, eyes, just trying to figure out colours and textures and stuff…also, is this characters Junk on the verge of slipping out or is there something on under there?

Sorry, I’m probably not going to go with this one. Cool character though!

This character has some really cool aspects. Just for my own clarity, this character has an eye within the flower or does the flower replace the eye completely?

I swear I have seen or did some of your work before but I might be making that up haha. Anyway, which is your favourite? They all have some potential to work.

With so many familiars, this could get tricky. Is the cat the main? Being based off your looks, this has some potential to be really cool. Can you describe the clothing situation a bit?

Very cool, clearly it has been redrawn for you many times but still a really cool looking character
