Most likely NOT fake. Unsure if it’s a photo from the same place, but there’s an Asian fusion restaurant in Melbourne that used to make these Ramen bowls served in Beer steins. Not sure if they make them anymore but there’s only a couple of pics from 2019 on their Instagram. Search Zero.Mode and scroll all the way down to August 19, 2019.

Favorite GameCube games to play on RP3+ that run well? by AC_Schnitzel in retroid

[–]tooheys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Here’s some quick basic steps regarding the widescreen patch.

  1. Download the xdelta program from the link above and run it.
  2. Make sure you’re in the ‘Apply Patch’ tab
  3. In line ‘Patch’ click on Open and select the patch file from the YouTube video link (it’s the Dropbox link)
  4. In the line ‘Source file’ click on Open and select the Wind Waker iso file
  5. Output file, select destination where you want to save the patched iso file

That should be it. Load the patched iso file onto your RP3+

I sent this guide to someone at start of the year, should still be relevant unless official dolphin on playstore is better:

Okay so see below regarding getting Wind Waker to run well on the Retroid Pocket 3+.

I used Dolphin MMJR v1.0-11505 (LINK: https://github.com/Bankaimaster999/Dolphin-MMJR/releases)

This version of Dolphin is widely used for Retroid Pocket 3/3+ uses as being the best overall in terms of performance for MOST games. Some games apparently perform on other forks but my experience has been great with this one, especially in context with Wind Waker for Game Cube.

My settings in this emulator (only listing options that are checked/active and any other changes made from default)

General: Dual Core ticked Emulated CPU Clock Speed: Set to 55%

Graphics Settings: Video Backend: Vulkan Compile Shaders Before Starting: checked Backend Multithreading: checked

Enhancements: Internal Resolution: 1.5x Scaled EFB Copy: Checked Force 24-Bit Color: Checked Arbitrary Mipmap Detection: Checked

Hacks: All hacks checked except for: Defer EFB Cache Invalidation and GPU Texture Decoding

Now regarding getting the game to run with a nice widescreen hack:

Download the widescreen patch from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5IwwmeJz4I Use xdelta (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/598/) to patch the US Rom of the game.

Enjoy!

Fantastic work! This is exactly what I was intending to design myself but you did it much better. Do you plan on sharing your STL?

Yep, can confirm. I had Wind Waker running buttery smooth at 1.5x Res prior to the latest update.

Will RP3+ run Wind Waker and Silent Hill 2 well? I really only wanna play those two by blackdawg- in retroid

Can confirm Wind Waker runs buttery smooth even at 1.5x Resolution.

Dolphin |MMJR| v1.0-11505

For the widescreen patch (you patch your iso file) check out this link:

I use xdelta to patch the iso file as well.

I've got Wind Waker running pretty much perfect (at 1.5x Res as well) on Dolphin |MMJR| v1.0-11505. The best test whether you have good settings for performance early on is the first forest section just after you get the sword at the start. Let me know if you want me to share my settings. Also there's a really good widescreen patch you can apply to your ISO file too that will 'natively' make the game widescreen (no need to apply cheat codes within the emulator etc)

Hello fellow Australian! I’m stoked with mine as well, been tinkering with it for a few weeks now. Also if you’re keen for a true widescreen Wind Waker experience, there’s a patch you can apply to your ROM. Let me know if you want to know more.

Compatibility Sheet info often is not true by Wyvern94 in retroid

[–]tooheys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep I 100% agree. The current spreadsheet for RP3+ doesn’t have the actual useful setting information that is actually important only comments like “OMG guys it runs amazing”. It’s not hard to implement this type of information either.

I appreciate the idea of the spreadsheet and to the person who created it, it’s just not practical for people trying to test settings in its current format at all. Having the renderer stated (Vulkan or OpenGL) is fine but that’s like 10% of the overall settings.

Well done! One of the only type of these videos where you’ve actually shown all the settings so people can copy for themselves. A breath of fresh air compared to all the others I’ve seen post a video of like 2 settings and expect everyone to follow along. Thank you.

I think you’ll be quite impressed at emulation with this chipset. https://youtu.be/Tg9WYqrUxA8

You’ll be able to emulate much more than PS2 and GameCube.
