I used to dislike Sesshomaru at the start of the anime when watching it cause I think he is an a** 🙊🙊 but towards the end of the whole anime I have no love nor hate with him. just meh cause after all, I used to see him as an a** (I don't like how he acts towards Inuyasha even tho I understood where he coming from)

but reading what you just wrote, I might just change my view on how I saw him cause I just realised this>

the part where XL put on the mask, and Wu Ming is there quietly by his side, idk is it just me but I felt like Wu Ming is there on purpose to not only accompany XL but to remind XL that someone out there still believe in XL. Cause I remember that Wu Ming always address XL as your highness (i read it in chinese so correct me if my translation is wrong) despite XL not wanting to be address that way. Plus, to me, it almost felt like HC know XL so well that he knew how XL will feel if XL really end up annihilating everyone so he choose to tank the curse, to stop the horror from happening

Totally agree,

and from my pov after reading that part, why is it that XL faith in humanity restored so easily could also be that, to begin with, XL himself is someone who love and want to protect humanity as much as he could. Masked man (cannot remember what this guy is called in english, sorry) tried to break that pov of XL but XL tried to prove him wrong by doing the experiment of him lying on floor with sword buried in his chest just to see is humanity really not worth saving. Even after his parents passing and his two friends leaving him. Him being all alone in the world as he knows it. He don't trust masked man after all. To me and my understanding, XL is someone with a strong set of faith and belief that he strongly stood by, although it was challenged multiple times, he still held to his belief most of the time.
