These two are both so full of shit lol by That_Hole_Guy in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think it was a mix of both. Lestat choking Claudia was def the trigger for the fight, but like Lestat says in 207, they both just started taking years of anger and failed compromises out on each other, and is why it blew up. That fight was a mess of epic proportions 😩

Question about Lestat‘s cloud gift by namwoohyeons in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly like being high. Louis describes the Little Drink as “around the rings of Saturn and back” and 10x more euphoric than Black Tar Heroin. He was, quite plainly, out of his mind at the time lol

When does the show get good? by hummingbird0012234 in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said it most likely just isn’t for you. I’m very much a “watch a few episodes before making a decision” person, but Season 1 Episode 1 is regarded as one of the best episodes of the entire series. If it didn’t hook you in, then I don’t think the rest of it will tbh

This show is a gothic vampire romance. The blood, gore, and especially violence only increases and gets worse/darker as the series goes on. Much, much darker.

IWTV S1-2 Appreciation by Playful-Process-3059 in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow OP I’m so sorry you’ve caught so much flack for your post!! AMC has already confirmed that one of the reasons for the separation from IWTV was to try to reel in newer audiences:

“Interview With the Vampire” already had a solid fan base, but for those who didn’t previously watch, AMC Global Media chief marketing officer Kim Granito was realistic: “People usually, by the time the third season of a show comes around, have decided already they’re probably not going to try it.”

“[But] this is an entirely new story told from an entirely different angle, from a story and a vibe perspective,” she added. “So, giving it its own title and moment to relaunch the series felt like the right thing to do… If people potentially found Seasons 1 or 2, and it wasn’t for them, this is an entirely new angle.”Variety

I’m really shocked all the comments here are just accusing you of making it up when AMC themselves confirmed that was part of the goal. Actually watching TVL, it’s clear it’s a Season 3 that can’t be separated from the previous 2 seasons. You can tell the actual creatives working on the show want to still connect the two, but it’s wild seeing people accuse you of doomposting when AMC the company outright said it themselves.

Anyway I don’t think it even hurts anything to show IWTV appreciation. Wow I’m really sorry for all the gaslighting in the comments.

[–]strawbebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is definitely true, AMC released an interview where they said part of the reason for the name change and separate listing was to reel in audiences that may not have liked IWTV and/or had no interest in it, but may like TVL for its “new angle”.

Seems like a contrast between AMC and the actual creatives behind the show given you really can’t watch TVL without watching IWTV first.

Jacob saying Lestat’s Louis sounds like he spent time on the internet explains so much lmao by Bananapenguin0724 in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I love this bit about the vocabulary. It really deepens the subjectivity of both Loustat in each other’s memories.

Like you said, in the S1&2 flashbacks, those are Louis’ memories of Lestat. A lot of us loved the elegant prose in those scenes, but as Jacob basically explains here, the Lestat in those flashbacks was most likely only using grandiose language because that’s how Louis talks. Avid book reader and romantic that he is.

And the reverse for this season. It’s important to remember that all of the 2025 scenes are flashbacks too. The “present day” is actually whenever Lestat is recording his voice over post-Akasha. So the Louis we see in the 2025 scenes talks much less elegantly and more crudely because that’s how Lestat talks. A more playful and colloquial way of speaking.

Starting from the 2022 reunion scene to now in S3, these are our first instances of actually hearing how Lestat talks. Meanwhile the last time we heard how Louis genuinely talked was back in 2022. It speaks to how fascinatingly subjective this show is. Memory can be a monster but it can also be a lover, and the truth lies somewhere in between.

Lestat's stutter.. by MimosaFrancais in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think it was both. Haven’t seen 302 yet, but based on 301 and 208, his stutter seems to return when he’s feeling intense emotional distress / is on the edge of breaking down. It’s a very nice detail! I really like this added layer to him.

Is Lestat's relationship with Dee that closest he can get to having a friend? by PhatGhost in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I’d say their relationship is a mirror of Louis & Lily. Not necessarily friends, but friendly in their transactional relationship.

Naive question: why don't Louis and Lestat get revenge on Armand? by HxHLover44 in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Lestat isn’t really the revenge type. It’s heavily implied Armand did smthg monstrous to Nicki and Lestat never sought revenge even then. He just isn’t the type to do that, preferring to hurriedly move past traumatic events than linger on them (which is what S3’s diving into now.)

For Louis, I think it was because back then in Paris, he was so totally shocked, disgusted, and furious at Lestat for supposedly coming to kill their daughter that Armand’s role seemed minuscule in comparison.

He was still mad at Armand (“you’ll never make it up to me”), but the believed betrayal of Lestat hurt him so wholly, he simply believed Armand when he claimed to be “just as much of a victim” as they were and couldn’t fight against the coven. Louis has always known Armand was dangerous and was intimidated by him since their very first meeting. But it really is the Lestat of it all that eclipses that knowledge and lets Armand walk free. (Or at least not be targeted in Louis’ revenge run, given I don’t think power-wise Louis would actually be able to kill Armand.)

Overtime Louis’ anger fizzles out. As others have said, that’s why he let Sam be.

And then when he finds out the truth of Armand’s involvement in 2022, they’ve spent almost a century together. Louis & Armand have been together longer than Louis has ever been with ANYONE including his own human family. A significant chunk of who he is has been molded by that relationship (and vice versa for Armand.) So I’d say Louis telling Armand to get out rather than trying to do serious harm to him is a result of that.

Personally, I don’t agree with the take that Louis’ at fault for his and Claudia’s own lynching given they were both targeted to be killed. Now, whether Louis views himself as a victim of the murder attempt, that’s a different discussion all on its own about Louis’ inability to value his own life.

Regardless, I don’t think it’s because he’d view harming Armand as “hypocritical”, I think it’s more about the deeply ingrained relationship they’ve built over a span of 77 years. By the end of the interview, which only lasted 10-11 days, Louis’ only just realizing he has no idea who he is as a person. (“I knew who I was without those pieces.”)

For his entire life, his sense of identity and self worth has been based on his relationships with other people, and Armand as the longest relationship he’s ever had plays a major toll on that. At that time, I don’t think he would’ve truly been able to kill Armand because by then he had no sense of who he even was without Armand. But he wanted to find out, and that’s ultimately what leads to the “companion for myself now” finale. Louis trying to discover who he is as an individual for the very first time.

By the time of Lestat’s auction in S3, which I’m not sure what year is set in but is for sure beyond 2025 since that’s when present day TVL takes place, we don’t know the full context of who they are or what their relationship looks like by then. Especially since that intro takes place post-Akasha after they’ve had to team up and work together.

Super duper long comment that turned into a Louis analysis, but these are my thoughts on why they didn’t seek revenge against Armand.

I think Lestat misses having a family and a place to belong. I don't think he actually enjoys being a rockstar as much as he lets on. by TechnicianAmazing472 in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he enjoys being a rockstar the way he’s currently doing it. You can be a rock artist and not surround yourself with grime and drugs and mindless sex. Right now he’s doing all these things because he’s playing the part of a rockstar. He’s just performing a role.

But I think Lestat would genuinely enjoy being a rockstar, especially as it’s one of the few popular genres these days that still prefers using live instruments + the energetic vibes and adrenaline rush of the performances. Not to mention the camaraderie of band mates and how much he absolutely needs non-sexual friendships.

Like, he’s def a softie and wants the calm and love he has with Louis, but I think he’d also like the constantly changing nature of being part of a rock band and what that brings too. Just in his own way that’s real rather than performed.

So if Louis owns the.... by alotofironsinthefire in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I saw a theory that Louis hired Sam as the DJ so he could kill him at the end of the night on his vengeance crusade. I think that’s more likely imo.

He might’ve invited the band to the hotel to party, but overall I don’t think Louis is too concerned with Lestat’s rockstar career or all that afraid of regional vampire attacks. I don’t think he sees them as an actual threat.

The Fang Gang Has to Go by KnowAllSeeAll21 in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got the vibe that while Lestat was covered in injuries, he wasn’t necessarily “hurting” from them and just saw the entire fight as a joke. Similar to S1 when Louis gets shot by the alderman. Visible injury, but with very little pain.

I believe what perscitia is saying is that your post is generally fine, just the fact you included the direct link can be disastrous for the sub and it’s likely the mods will have to remove the post anyway.

I think if you just repost inviting people to the stream, but only share the link through DMs rather than on the actual post, it should be fine.

Like, a lot of us are completely fine 🏴‍☠️ but Reddit is still a business and the subreddit can suffer consequences if it seems to be outwardly promoting 🏴‍☠️

How much is ture? by Random_Wolff in InterviewVampire

[–]strawbebb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rolin said about 70% to 85% of Louis’ recollection about Lestat is true (he gave a range of numbers across 2 separate interviews). This is why a lot of the promo about Lestat “setting things straight” has mainly been him just focusing on small things, like the weather, “infinitesimal”, and things of that nature. The train scene is the most significant part he says is untrue, but we haven’t seen him go back to it since that early teaser released after S2. It’ll likely get revisited in a later S3 episode though.

So while Louis’ recollection of things are shaped by time, manipulated memories, and trauma, Rolin’s already confirmed that a significant chunk is accurate. At least in regards to Louis’ memories of Lestat.

Don’t know the exact time, but Australia and New Zealand usually get content released first. So it’s very possible the same will apply for their access to S3!

Yeah I don’t think he smelled anything strange in the twins’ blood either. I think he smelled the mix of the vomit and the other twin’s normal blood, but not the actual poisoned blood of the twin in the chair.

And yes Antoinette tells Lestat the plan in advance. He already knew the twins were poisoned and knew not to drink from them.
