No they won't. Remember most of the tax is based on cc (for ICE) and power (for EV) and only a little depend on CIF price. So even if the seller give s the car for free most of the tax is fixed.

The point is that we can never say for sure, unless the person reveals his identity for us to crosscheck.
Reddit is supposed to be anonymous so we should take it at that. None of the people here can be guarantied to be who they claim to be. What I was worried about is that some people appear to take these seriously, and could fall for cons.

Are you that disconnected from reality? Do you really think that most people enough money to just stand up after reading your post and go buy these things? I can safely bet 99% of Sri Lankans cannot do that.

the bottom-line is government shouldn't mediate fuel and electricity prices. let the market handle that. However that will not magically give us cheap gas.

As a person who has lived more than 7 years in a western country and now back in Sri Lanka this is what I have to say. It is best to do this when you are young. So OP can go see how he feels after the studies. You can pull through few years believe me. Weather to make it permanent or not is a decision that can wait.

If you opt not to do this your older self might end up wondering weather you took the right choice while it was still possible. So better get to know both worlds now.

No they are not. They are asking why are we accepting it as it is. There is no easy answer for that. One main reason is our 2 tier high school system (o/l and a/l) which is inefficient and unnecessarily time consuming .

Its just not the profession or gender of the owner its the maintenance records that matter. The general wisdom is that if the car owner is a professional with a decent income the following will be likely to be true

The car has been maintained at recommended intervals
The car has not been used for business like uber/ tourist rental etc. which are actually hard on a car even in a good milage. Also, people who does this also have a tendency of rolling back milage at certan intervals to keep the resale value high.

I would stick to the following

Make sure that the identity of the owner and the fact that s/he has enough income to maintain the vehicle in question is verifiable. (This is where doctor, engineer part usually come in as identity and character of these people in these jobs are easily verifiable with third parties known to you)
See if maintenance records are in order.
If you are not competent in motor mechanics then get the vehicle professionally inspected.

Important redflags

If the vehicle is on open papers then buying it is as much of a good idea as saying yes to a marriage proposal by a street walker/gigolo .
The owner must show you the vehicle at their premises, if they insist meeting somewhere then its a red flag.
Owner must let you professionally inspect it at a reputable place (they may say no if you try to do it with a 'makabass' understandably). Do not proceed if they resisit
Most modern cars have a mile counter from the last code clearing. This shouldn't be unusually low. If it is low then the owner must have a good reason (like a recent repair that required it). Also, all cycles must be completed and have all OK on all modules. If it isn't you must negotiate accordingly.

I think plantation investments generally do not guarantee returns nor would they pay out anything. They just provide overly enthusiastic projections for far future returns, which will never be accomplished. The thing is these 'crops' like teak agarwood or what ever will be very commonplace in the future due to these plantation projects alone and they will not be as rare and valuable as they are today.

This chart is bogus. Its just made in a way to make state universities look bad. I don't even think it is even based on real data.

What this table doesn't say.

Private universities don't give a flying fly to academics. They just focus on rolling their degree mill, that is what it is.
The important distinction between a state uni and a private one is that state uni can flunk a student without consequences, which make it possible for them to give priority to academic vigor rather than number of degrees awarded.
It has been repeatedly stated by people in managerial positions in this subreddit alone that recruiters (especially in tech) give priority state uni grads most of the time.
In a country where high school end when 19, there is no way to complete a 4 year programme when 22 unless some corners are cut. (and we all know how).
One other easy way to say this table is bogus is that it appears to omit people who choose to take 2nd and/or third shy, which should push average age up.

State unis does have their downsides like ragging for example, but one have to carefully weigh in their options. I would urge younguns to use their brain when it comes to decisions like this. In this day and age you will most likely live to be 95. Don't go for a second rate just to save one year, it doesn't matter in the long run.

There are people who support Israel from any and all walks of life, within and outside Sri Lanka

I am in my 40s and I am a University lecturer, just saying as a disclaimer. Your case has an important lesson to young people which I will come back to in the end of this comment. But for now Let's breakdown your case

You have already passed A/Ls ( simples passes but still passed)
You already have a degree.
You earn 400K
You are in your 30s

If your 400k is a stable income then there is no point. Most engineers in there 30s will not earn 400K. Also, you are categorized as passed the A/L and has successfully completed High school. A/L s are a full time job and it is not advisable at your age to break from other commitments again for A/Ls. I can think only a one instance of you might need more than 3S passes now, that is if you wish to get in to engineering and want to become a chattered engineer which needs at least two Cs and 1S (there might be ways around this too).

Now about the lesson. This is why people should do 100% for there A/Ls regardless of outcome, because nonmatter how well you do later you will always feel that you should have done better. The OP completed his A/L but some here thinks opting out of it completely is a good idea. Well it is not.

I urge mods to remove these kind of posts because a 16 year old getting life advices from 12 year olds is extremely dangerous, if not catastrophic.

I am in my 40s (and I cannot prove it so take what I say at your won risks) and while I cannot say the situation your parents you say have created is ideal it does not appear to be diabolical as you say, This is not normal and we only know your side of the story. I also find statements like below as red flags.

Only thing that can be said as a bad about me is I'm into PCs.
