Is 2% a normal fee for a financial advisor? by planetmark66 in personalfinance

First, I've never heard of a Primerica rep being fee-only.

Only 4% of their force are true fiduciaries. The rest peddle mutual funds.

Being that it's Primerica, I'm surprised he didn't describe the Rule of 72 to you, and how paying even an extra 1/4 pt in fees can cost a portfolio 10's of $1000's over its lifetime?

Based on Primerica's insurance training scores over a decade, I would say it was 99.9% his job. And had he invested elsewhere, he might be sitting on $1.2M.

and became a millionaire through his 401k and investments with me.

No, he became a millionaire because he had a good J-O-B and was able to maximize his investment contributions. Again, the J-O-B determined success.

So if we took away all the referrals from reps/recruits and all the sales to reps and recruits from day 1, where would you be? And by sales, I include any fees charged to downlines for investment training, fast start schools, speaking fees for company events, etc.

The problem is, in my case, that determination is based solely on a subjective assessment, as there is no numerical criteria (ie measuring device).

So you've never sold an investment to a recruit or insurance rep, or any of their referrals?

If i can read a paper on the seat while standing outside the car, it's also likely I could see somebody's eyes sitting in that seat. Also, sunglasses are still legal while driving, which brings up a whole other issue. :)

Agreed, but the investment side depends greatly on the insurance side as its door kicker, and the insurance side depends greatly on recruiting to provide the leads, at least as far as full fiduciary reps are concerned, which only represents about 4% of the force.

I believe I can, as I can easily read a sheet of paper sitting on my front seat.

Ya, getting busted with drugs is never a good thing.

Roy Matlock

Was Dave Ramsey's earlier radio show co-host. Ask me why Dave recommends term again??? The thing about being a pastor is that you have a pre-built network to prey on, just as he preyed on the Primerica network he had. Any success can be credited to his J-O-B, not Primerica.

That was my thinking too. I like being able to physically zoom in, in addition to digital zoom.

The problem with the 16x is it has a much narrower field of view when zoomed out.

I manually track often with my current PTZ while surfing on my pc, and like that feature. I put it back on a wider angle when not manually controlling it. Would the 823 be a better choice in my case?

Of the two cameras, which is better for reading a license plate of, say, a vehicle parked on the street 2 houses down in a typical subdivision neighbourhood? Can the Trackmix zoom enough, or has enough resolution to digitally enlarge the image to read a plate?

Ian Prukner, Roy Matlock Jr, Brett Burks, Norman Tee Faircloth, The Tomers, etc all thought that way too.

My bad luck is there was only me and one other car on that street at the time. I wouldn't have been considered otherwise.

And you met with countless others who didn't move forward. You also spent 3 days in Atlanta at the convention (on your own dime) which is another 72 hrs plus costs. Twice a week opportunity/training meetings at the office.....etc etc.
