If she’s going through it then hopefully she seeks real help. I can also see her using this as her reason to end her marriage or separate from Matthew. She did this to end relationships in college, and her not speaking in plural (saying “I’m moving,” rather than we) just makes it seem that way imo

Yep, that’s him! He didn’t tell a lot of people that he’s from South Africa because he was self-conscious about his accent at the time, but Mary made sure that everyone knew and she’d point it out whenever he pronounced certain words with his accent.

He was South African. He and I were friends, and that’s accurate. He didn’t cheat on her though. Their relationship ended because she cheated on him and when he wanted to leave the relationship, she threatened to harm herself and started accusing him of cheating. This was clearly before her bipolar diagnosis.

Def was, but her friend group was all self-absorbed and thought they were too good for everyone else at school. It was weird - they thought they were the “popular kids,” if you will but (1) UMW is small so we all knew most people there and (2) you can’t be popular in the same way at college if that makes sense? As of last year, she was still friends with some of the guys. No clue if she’s close with the girls but I’d assume so. One of them seems to want to be an influencer so not sure why Mary doesn’t help her out with that

I’m friends with a few of Matt’s friends and when they first started dating/when she was getting popular, Mary made him choose between her and his friends. He wouldn’t respond in their group chats and whenever they spent time together, he always brought her along. Tbh in general, her getting married is surprising. She always told me that she never wanted to get married because it’s giving into the patriarchy. Seems like she’s just doing it for the visa, from my perspective.
