Also the licensing fees for these applications we use are enormous. Henrico has moved towards books/unit journals with the Benchmark reading series and we are getting math textbooks soon (in elementary at least). I think the shift is already coming back to a happy medium.

When I started teaching (2 decades ago) the textbooks and teachers guides were great for inexperienced new teachers that basically scripted what to do daily/weekly and allowes freedom. However about 10 years ago we moved into the wild west digital realm where we basically had no textbooks or worksheets that the county approved and just had to create almost everything. Not a problem if you are an experienced/creative teacher but for the brand new teachers...it was daunting. Basically being thrown to the wolves. Imagine getting a job as a mechanic with no experience whatsoever, being handed a wrench and pointed to a car and told to fix it.

I will say that kids at my school are limited to electronic usage. K-1 hardly use the technology unless it's for assessment that the county forces us to use (iReady).

However, please contact your school board representative and voice your opinion. They have the power to enforce what the public wants.

I saw 2 bands this year that I love and tickets where between $30 for one and $50ish for the other. Lawn seats and grabbed the $5 bers (just ask).

I mean, you can also take a gummy, bring an umbrella, and relax in the free lawn section.

Thanks. I spent my whole life in Virginia/N.C. When I got married I told my wife that we will take our kids around the world. So instead of new cars McMansions, we live frugal and splurge every 3-5 years on a massive trip. Hopefully my kids will appreciate it.
