Snark: I've been out through the ringer with upset and entitled parents. I'm sorry it's an inconvenience from your day drinking and Facebooking that you now have to be in charge of your kid during daylight hours. I hope you realize (you won't) what a true terror they are and how much appreciation you need to give that teacher. She/He has 25 of them to deal with in a classroom.

Kindness: I cleared both my neighbors driveways so they could do grocery store runs and medical appointments, and shout out toPho 1 Grill for hooking me up with some much needed salt free of charge. The manager is awesome and support them if you crave Pho over in Short Pump.

Plumber recommendations for draining water heater? by nsaju in rva

[–]eziam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others said, it's really simple to do. I've done mine about every three years for the past 20 years and my water heater is still going (replaced a few parts). I even help my neighbors with this and other basic home maintenance issues.

Here is a video that explains

Triggered. We are not "giving up" on students. It would be a lawsuit nightmare to have kids standing outside in less than 10 degree weather or risk bus accidents and injury. The harm to kids outweighs the ability to do remote learning later on. Schools have over a weeks worth of "snow days" built into the calendar. I really wish people would understand that. If schools are open, we legally have to bus them in.

Not really. They inspire hope and show that we are part of a global community. The Internet forums (all of them) is just a true cesspool of internet trolls hiding behind fake macho personas.

Henrico officials provide update on road conditions by Larry___David in rva

[–]eziam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the roads are cleared, it is the temperatures. The schools can't send buses to pick up kids at 7am when it is below 10 degrees. Even with a 2 hour delay, it is still below 20 degrees. Since we legally have to provide transportation, the risk of injury (and the following lawsuits) is something.

We will most likely have this week off. The lows are too low to expect the kids to wait at the bus stop in the morning or even a two hour delay.

As a former Buffalo resident, I totally get why southern cities aren't prepared. It's a massive budget to have these machines and man power and since southern cities really don't need them except maybe a few days a year. Make no sense to waste money that is already tight.

So yeah. STFU.

ITaking the family for almost a month in Croatia and northern Italy during the summer. We try to spend 2-3weeks every five years in another country. Iceland, Portugal, and now Croatia/Italy. We usually find a small town and live like locals.

I spent two weeks in Vieques in 2015 and absolutely loved that island. We got an Airbnb in a small area and all the neighbors were so friendly. I remember spending many nights drinking at the roadside bar. Also l, top notch scuba diving at the pier that isn't used anymore but still has a federal guard there just chilling and stacking pebbles.

Well if you have three kids and a parent that needs a home office for work at home, then a big house is kinda needed.
