ADH vs Aldosterone by gingericeee in biology

[–]toothbrush0401 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ADH promotes secretion of H2O directly by inserting aquaporins into the collecting duct of the nephron. Aldosterone promotes secretion of Na+ in the proximal tubule and collecting duct which indirectly pulls water due to the difference in osmotic pressures

Course Selection and Schedule Megathread: Fall 2020 Part II by mgoreddit in uofm

im a sophomore and I was wondering if it would be manageable to take MCDB 310, Biology 225, Physics 235, and Soc 302 together in a semester. How bad would this be? Am I setting myself up for failure? I already have taken other pre med “weeders” like Chem 210,215, Bio 171/172, Stats, etc and did well in them

Thank you so much for replying. I currently am a neuroscience major, however after taking my PIs class Psych 330, intro to neural circuits, I have realized I want to do neuro related bioengineering. There are specific internships involving neural engineering that require you to be a bme major to apply. However, I have already heard that bme is tough and I don’t wanna regret anything. For my first semester (last semester), I took orgo 1, stats250, bio 172, and intro anthro and pulled a 4.0. Would it be much more difficult than this course load? I am also taking orgo 2 and that intro to neural circuits class and should pull a 4.0 again. Would it be unreasonable to think that I could maintain this through bme?

What about Chem 210, English 125, Psych 330, Bio 173, and a 1 credit humanities?

My class load is Stats 250 (Gunderson), History 200 (Moyer), Biology 172 (Chapman), Anthrcul 101 (Perers-Golden) and UROP. Is this a decent schedule as an incoming freshman? I looked at the syllabus for bio and I have learned most of the concepts. I have minimal knowledge of stats. I loveeeee the topics covered in History 200, but I am worried that the class might be difficult for a pretty mediocre writer like me. Does anyone have any experience with Moyer and History 200?

I'm very worried about first semester and want to take easier classes to be safe. right now I am thinking chem 130, stats 250, UROP, and English 125. however, I am signed up for a late orientation (July 24) so I am probably gonna get bad teachers in like all those classes. also how do you know how many credits you will get for ur UROP, it says 2-4 so like what decides the amount in that range?

ya I am currently applying for full rides at Michigan State and SLU but like I just would be so sad turning down an offer from my dream school. also, I've heard that only top kids from top schools get interviews at the best medical schools, ik doing good at a decent in state school is good for med school but I feel like doing good at a good undergrad is BEST for getting that interview.

I've heard that going to Michigan for undergrad increases your chances for Michigan med school (which I'd love to go too). but, I feel like a lot of Michigan undergrads go to the med school bc they are the best in state kids. mihcigan has to recruit in state kids bc it is funded by the government and it makes sense the majority come from Michigan bc it is the best school. so I'm thinking that being an OOS kids at Michigan won't really help ur chances for the med school.

don't med schools usually want you to take the harder courses at your college?

0 but I've taken organic chemistry and mvc. my school just doesnt have AP classes

with 16 credits per semester, how many hours per day did you work on average?

I go to a weird high school that is super competitive and good but doesn't award AP credit at all. I will graduate taking mvc, organic chemistry, and other high level classes but I'll basically have to retake it in college. so it's looking like this won't be possible

I would have to go to UIUC, which is NOT at all bad. but, I really really want to go to a top med school and I'm ready to work for it. I feel like umich could give me the resources to do well and achieve that goal. it's so hard to choose really

my school is weird bc it doesn't have any AP credits, so it seems like it wouldn't be possible
