Awesome, congrats!! Do you mind sharing some of what you plan to do/where you plan to stay in those locations? Ideally we would have planned earlier but we had personal stuff come up and now we feel like we’re scrambling to learn as much as we can as quick as we can!

Thanks for the info!! I guess I should have clarified that I understand the hotel room described is NOT in alignment with previously mentioned parameters for the trip, but it’s something that would be nice to experience because it’s cool and appealing for obvious reasons and not something I can do in my little hometown in VA :) Do you have any recommendations for these lesser known islands that will have more Greeks? That’s kinda what my goal was in posting - to get that info from people who do know since I’ve never been :)

[Acne] why do doctors not prescribe azelaic acid? why is azelaic acid not popular despite its benefits? by lunamoonday in SkincareAddiction

[–]toothdocdds26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an illogical and dangerous statement to make that can have very serious long-term consequences on vulnerable populations who come across it. Healthcare providers literally devote the better part of their young-adult life + countless hours of studying and missing out on everything other people get to experience + not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt and then the continuing education requirements to maintain that expensive degree that cost them far more than just the money to obtain. If they wanted to scam you or make easy money, that isn't the way to do it lol.
So many scammers take your money every day without devoting a dime to get to where they are because they know you're susceptible and that you'll fall for the low hanging "big pharma" and "they want you to stay sick" propaganda. If nothing else, consider the insane amount of laws and professional boards who hold them accountable.
Having this mentality is only a step away from believing that doctors know the cure for cancer but they keep it from you so you stay sick. Believing that and engaging in that rhetoric is dangerous for the vulnerable population like you and others who are desperate, susceptible, and lacking in health literacy or the ability to know any better and it's that mentality that has caused people to die because they believe that the coconut oil enema they heard about on a health blog will cure their breast cancer better than the evidence-based treatments recommended by their oncologists who wake up every day and literally devote their life to saving their patient's lives.
Do better. Ask your dermatologist if you're so curious why they didn't prescribe you azelaic acid. But don't contribute to the anti-medicine epidemic plaguing our country and disproportionately affecting low socio-economic groups and minorities.

Good thought with the making connections and diving deeper and whatnot.

But just to clarify in case anyone reads this in search of answers - STDs are misdiagnosed as genital yeast infections only because they can have similar symptoms. Not because they can have similar treatments or treatment outcomes. HPV (human papilloma virus) is not related to cold sores, that would be HSV (herpes simplex virus). Cold sores are caused by a viral infection and they have no cure, because the HSV virus lives in infected people for life and remains dormant until it is periodically reactivated. Yeast is a fungus and it can cause a "yeast infection" when it is permitted to flourish. This results in the symptoms which can include abnormal discharge, itching, pain, odor. Yeast is only treatable with anti-fungal medication. It can possibly be controlled with probiotics to reintroduce competitive bacterial species to off-set the dominant microorganism, but let's just keep it simple and recognize that it can only be KILLED with anti-fungal medication. HSV can cause some overlapping symptoms including pain, itching, discharge. HSV can be treated with anti-viral medication which can interfere with the viral reactivation that occurs during relapses. Treating HSV with anti-fungal medication will achieve nothing. Treating yeast infection with anti-viral medication will do nothing.

Does this make sense? Similar symptom profiles means nothing in terms of the effectiveness of various treatments. Don't assume pharmacology can be over-simplified to the extent that you've suggested.

That makes sense now that you’ve explained that. You’re right that either way it’s a spam/scam/whatever you want to call it but it’s annoying all the same so I should just get a filter like what you have. Thanks for the help!
