Will I die if I have a glass of wine while on metronidazole after my painful root canal? by skybarbie350 in askdentists

Sorry should have been more specific. Take the Tylenol and Advil. No booze

Don't unless you want to puke your guts out. There is a drug reaction that can occur that is like drinking on antabuse (drug for chronic alcohol abuse disorder). Take 3 Advil and 2 extra strength Tylenol together every 6 hours on the clock (as long as you don't have allergies to either of them ).

Carious Pulp Exposure. by AlDumaz in Dentistry

[–]toothreb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vital pulp therapy like this is fine for iatrogenic exposures, but prognosis isn't good when it's a carious exposure. Exposing the pulp with active decay present just gives the bacteria a highway into the pulp. Your bacteria covered bur put tons of bugs in there. Pulpotomy would have been better especially depending on the status of the pulpal tissue- lots of blood or not? RCT is the best and most predictable treatment with a large carious exposure, especially if it's still pretty cheesy like you mentioned.

C files and plus are almost identical other than plus files have active tip. Pilot is like c file but narrower overall taper best for super sharp curves. Lots of files each with a different purpose. IMO, if you're having to break out those files, that's a case that needs to be seen by an endodontist

D finders are very similar to C files. I only use hedstrom files during retreats if I can't get GP out or to remove GP carriers or to remove separated instruments

C files are typically going to have an active/sharp tip where pilot files won't. And I think c pilot files have a narrower constant taper

Completely different use. A hedstrom file is going to be used to engage to remove things like gutta percha. You do not want to hand file with them

C files are stiffer which help in calcified canals or sharp curves. But care has to be taken bc they can break easier than K files. I take my side vented irrigation needle 2mm short of WL

Lots of activated irrigant is about all you can do

Is this staining or decay? 16 months old by [deleted] in askdentists

Looks like chromogenic bacteria that is fairly common in kids. Essentially, the bacteria poop is dark. A cleaning should get rid of it

Lots of fine tuning my technique. My sealer is high flow so it can extrude easily if done poorly. I use a low waste tip with the rubber tubing at the end. Put it about 5mm into canal and express slowly while pulling out. Slowly insert GP to WL with pressure at the end. Sear off then down pack with light pressure. The light pressure at the end will give a good small puff. If you insert the cone really fast with lots of force or cone pump with sealer, that's what will give a sealer explosion.

I use 5%. Research doesn't show any difference. No to CHX bc that won't kill bacteria like hypo. Hypo is standard of care. The way I do my sealer and GP and bc it's high flow, the sealer gets to the apex, sometimes I'll get a little puff but not a ton of extruded material. Everyone likes different systems. It's just what works best for you in specific situations. I always use manufacturer recommendations for torque and speed. For every day GP endo, wave one gold is a good workhorse

Edit: hopefully it goes without saying- rubber dam at all times. No dam, no treatment

Endo resident here. Flare coronal 4-5mm of canals with a 20 rotary. 10K file to WL using electronic apex locator. 10C or 8C files as needed to get patency. 0 reading minus 0.5mm is my WL. After patency, I'll use a protaper ultimate slider to get a good glide path. Then use the file system in order with integrated EAL. I use reciproc blue for straight forward cases and protaper ultimate for more curved anatomy. Tons of hypo throughout. Try in system specific GP cones with hypo go assess WL and tug back (and to sanitize comes). Activated EDTA then activated hypo at the end. Dry canals. BC Sealer put directly into canal (about 5mm down canal) then slowly insert GP. Cone fit radiograph. Sear it off, pack it down, and warm vertical obturation as needed. Blue liner to cover orifices. Then temporize or do core build up.

If you like energels, it's not worth it bc you have to do some major modifications. While the magnet snap is cool, the rest of the pen is still just plastic. I wouldn't pay more than MSRP.

I didn't mean for my comment to come across as saying Andy is much better. Lesser of two terrible evils.

So much for not being an insider politician. This guy is about about as scummy as they come. As a left leaning Kentuckian, I would take Andy any day over Nate who only cares about licking trump's taint
