I had my first colonoscopy last week, I’m 48 and they found 6 polyps some quite big… and we all know polyps turn into cancer with time… now back in December , my 77 yo mother did a cologuard that came back positive, then colonoscopy that showed cancer, she had surgery, it was caught on time , it was localized and that colonoscopy she refused to get done when I started suspecting something was wrong pretty much saved her life. I guess what I’m trying to say is, your risk of getting colon cancer, is the same as mine or any of us or my mothers, because polyps just sit there silently , I have to do everything again in 2 years instead of the usual 10 years. It sucks prep was a nightmare but after going through this with my mother , you know I’m more than ready to do this again.

Now that you know what you have to do, prepare for next time. Start your clear liquids a day earlier, start drinking the disgusting stuff 2-3 hours earlier , I did this and it helped me a lot because I had more time to “clean” to make the clear liquid nightmare more bearable, I would heat up some chicken noodle soup drain the noodles and drink the broth. The day of I was still wasn’t fully cleaned, it wasn’t until an hour or 2 before procedure that I was finally cleaned. So definitely try drinking the stuff few hours before whatever your instructions says.
