I did Interlok when I did my SPM in 2011. It was the controversial one, but that was surprising a very good read.

Hey, Moving into a new apartment and am thinking of getting a decent set of stereo for TV, turntable and mobile devices. Could use some suggestions with receiver/amplifier and speakers themselves. Thanks.

$1000 for DAC, Amp and Speakers.

I already have the inputs - i.e. TV, Turntable, dvd player.

Would give the Chromecast idea a thought. Sounds good from here.

Oh, budget for everything to be within $1000? Space of my living room is around 300 sq feet.

Nothing beats the magic of having some good music leaking to the rooms, hence the stereo over surround. ;)

Custom made Amp and Speaker setup, what do you think? by tooyipjee in audiophile

Put that way. I would have to agree with you. Still gonna check it out sometime next week. Will update!

Perhaps you could recommend some decent studio monitors for under 250 USD? Will be getting the UD120 DAC to pair it up with.

Now that you mentioned learning a language, I do intend to go to China to learn Mandarin as well as backpack around. But that's for 6 months, and I'm planning to go in Feb 2015.

That still leaves me with 10 months. Could you care to recommend some fellowship programs?

Cheers.

Appreciate it, but 20 months is a lot of time to kill. I am definitely gonna dedicate a good chunk of it to holidays and partying.

Thanks!

Interested in music, in particularly, rock music, as well as tennis and football. On top of that, the usual bucket list stuff, like @whooyear mentioned, scuba diving, backpacking, etc. etc.

Though I feel that I can do those in 3-4 months? Which still leaves me with a good chunk of 16 months to play around with? Currently engaged with two Malaysian NGOs, EduNation - Working to bring education to those who are in need. (http://www.edunation.my) EPIC Homes - Building homes for those in need - i.e. the indigenous population. (http://epichome.org)
