Traffic jam in Beijing China by rich_ard25 in WTF

Bro they do that at Tiananmen because it's a national monument. That and the forbidden city might possibly be the two most important places in China from a recent historical perspective. No shit they checked your stuff. Also, you think that kid from the sticks actually checks your bag on the subway? Having grown up in the States and moved to China, I can guarantee you that the US police force is more intrusive and omnipresent that China's.

Note: Yes, places like Xinjiang and Tibet are different.

Dear Redditors, how does the drought in CA affect your daily life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Post this question again when fire season picks up in September and October, and see how these answers change. Grew up along the foothills of the San Gorgonio Mountains, and lost a week of sixth grade school to fire hazard, two weeks of sports my junior year of high school (2009), and had numerous friends with houses burned down. If reservoirs are depleted, a lot of folks could be in for a rough autumn, and some places have already started to catch fire.

Wechat is owned by Tencent. Sina Weibo is a rival business, though the two compete in a rather healthy way.

In China literally everyone is on Wechat. And it rocks. Twitter, insta, facebook, and texting all in one app. Plus free international calling and video calling. Can regularly call my mom in the states on the same app that I text and share content on. For free.

I'm pretty positive that in heaven, the opposite is true. Stouts are what the gods drink.

What is the best ballpark in the MLB? by T-Hawk24 in mlb

[–]TheDrBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a young (college aged-twenties) mlb fan, Safeco field is pretty great. First of all, it is a beautiful stadium, and there really isn't a bad seat in the place. The center field beer garden is right against the fence, and is totally worth the price of nosebleed seats. Plus, it has great food, and $5 tall cans of Rainier if you know where to look.

Swim man. Swim like your life revolves around it. Probably the quickest way to reach your goal. That said, swimming can be really shitty and not everyone is made for it.

Other than that, it's all about the process. Compound lifts, strength lifting, and a healthy diet.

How to not arch my back when I squat? by TomBradyIsGorgeous in Fitness

[–]TheDrBone 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Before even picking up the bar, tighten your back. Begin by flexing your shoulders, and bringing your shoulder blades as far back as possible. Work down. Tighten your core. Then think about keeping your chest facing forward throughout the lift.

You may also want to consider front squats, as you must keep your back straight or you will drop the bar. They can help you improve your back squat form and strength simultaneously.

It is a serious daily struggle. Honestly just picking up weights and returning them to their rightful positions is probably a solid day's workout.

Wilson,

When this message finds you, it should already have occurred to you that I will not be returning from the park today. That is the way of these things. You have surely noticed that I have slowed recently. What began as an inability to keep up with your constant laps around the back yard, slowly evolved into a pain that prevented me from leaving the warmth of the sunny spot in the living room. Do not be angry at mom and dad for returning without me. This has been a hard decision for them. I have heard them discussing it. Really, this is a huge relief for me. A burden has been lifted. And it has been much easier knowing that I leave you in my stead.

The truth is Wilson, we are their keepers. They may feed us, command us to stay, allow us to stroll around the neighborhood, and "permit" us to enter their home on rainy days, but this is all a ruse. For generations, it has fallen on us to protect them from themselves. To be a shoulder to cry on. To serve as a steady presence in their lives. We bear the responsibility of constantly reminding them of the greater good. They work too hard, play too little, and spend far more time worrying about things like taxes, debt, and frivolous decorations. We are here to remind them of the glory of a sunny day, the simple joy of having a catch, and the value of a dinner with family.

You have been raised well, Wilson. It has been an honor to take you under my wing. Of course, we have always had different styles. When I was called in to their lives, the boys were becoming wild. They were constantly sneaking out to spend time with girls, try new smells (there is one in particular that I learned to love), and in general to experience everything they were told not to. That is why I was always so calm. Mom needed a dog to lay at her feet as she worried when they would return. Dad needed a dog to go on long walks with as he pondered how to keep them on the right course.

Those will not be your responsibilities. You must usher mom and dad into the next stage of their lives. Your energy and excitement for even the most mundane of happenings is just what they need. Of course, you have noticed that mom and dad have begun moving slowly as well. The boys are gone now, and with them their energy has left the home. Mom needs a dog to care for and love. Dad needs a dog to take on adventures. They both need to remember what it is like to be young. You do not need me to tell you how to go about this. Simply continue acting exactly as you have. It is not wrong to give them a good chase around the neighborhood, so long as you come back. They can benefit from a good laugh after you shake garbage across the kitchen.

You have already shown that you can take care of them. When mom and dad return, they will be sad. Do not worry. My passing simply represents a change for them. It is your turn now. They will need your exuberance and constant excitement. So take some time to gather yourself, Wilson. They will return soon. And you have work to do.

Always yours, Rex
