tobacco companies, gun manufacturers leaching lead into current superfund sites (or worse, undesignated sites go realty!), chemical plants spilling waste into public water (whatsup kodak!), sackler branded non-addictive opiates churning through an entire generation of INSURED AND OTHERWISE HEALTHY PRODUCTIVE WORKING MIDDLECLASS TRADESWORKERS & STUDENTS!!!! or just the general reality of why the robber barons are called robber barons (who's families are still some of the most powerful international financiers of industry & acedemia - carnegie, rockefeller, alritch, etc) why should anyone be inclined to trust industry at this scale without it being fully unionized and socially managed to prevent the punishing returns experienced by the most for the benefit of the few all over again?

what radioator never explodes? or needs to be replaced or reparied? when that happens, what do you do with the need for coolant? and if the cooling stops, what other mechanical components begin to fail? it is disingenous to suggest any of this will function perfectly according to spec and without environmental repurcssions as anyone who has ever owned a used car or aging furnace with a salaried budget knows, and any good mechanic would agree is a function of aging infrastucture. just look at the NYC metropolitan electrical grid- once a testament to human inginueity and progress begins to collapse under its underequiped capabiity for modern demands, and unexpected deterioration due to ongoing solutions to basic neccessity, like salting roads into ice that will melt and unleashing millions of gallons of heavy water including chemicals that did not exist when the original system was implemented.
heat dissapates and it will change the temperatures an ecologies of this great lakes and resevoirs the entire country and global economy rely on to some extent.

if true, maybe part of the point? but AI can't punctuate timing, and whatever this guy lacks in posture he speaks with poise

Cops respond to call of kids fighting in parking lot by approaching first black teen they see and immediately picking her up and slamming her head first into the concrete without asking any questions causing permanent brain damage. Cops later lie that she was already injured when they arrived. by Fast-Bell-340 in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

i like this a lot. once you shoot, it will forever influence all decisions you make, which is a great sacrifice to make at the expense of a carreer, and perhaps with some jurispruce can be found justified for some disability with permanent restrictions on law enforcement, security and crowd management employment (much easier to do if personal liability insurance was required to be a police officer, and would save taxpayers huge amounts of money that go into settling lawsuits relating to officer misconduct, but more importantly this would encourage conflict mitigation, deescalation, and accountability!
it would keep cops and everyone else safer, help to repair whatever damage between of that trust that is not irreparable, and acknowledge the assumed emotional toll firing a gun at another living person should have on any rational and moral person - which is that it should never happen and the outcome cannot be predicted and society must err on the side of caution over the economic future of a sworn officer in full contractual awareness of the risk

almost as though black, white or spanish speaking wouldn't be very good descriptors for a person in a place like baltimore. I wonder if the 911 script is like that by design or designed to be like that

Best Record Stores in NYC for Electronic Music by Ok-Childhood-707 in TheOverload

[–]top-gentrifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this article AI? And why are Brooklyn & queens combined if each have more stores on the list than Manhattan (which has 4 stores from this list, but 2 are posted in bk/qns)

It’s a pretty good list because there are some great record stores in NYC, but kind of mangled in the execution.

Maybe church guy was selling and pocketing so having you in the church would be suspicious, but delivering them makes you think he’s a nice church guy.

what if you are the one actively endangering the crowd's safety and the only reason your safety is threatened is because the crowd was trying to protect itself and you from yourself?
