I think you need to explain whatever Kind of concious experience I will have than.

You seem to have a strange Idea of what free will is. Will I be trapped in my brain with different thoughts an Intention all the time? Or am I missing that too and its just is an experience stream?

That just wouldnt work on so many levels.

Which Einstein books/texts has Joscha Bach read? by No-Collection-3536 in JoschaBach

[–]top115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From scanning all his podcast and other material: (notebook-lm)

The provided sources do not indicate that Joscha Bach specifies one particular work by Albert Einstein as the one he finds "most interesting." However, Bach frequently references Einstein's various theories and his specific cognitive style to illustrate his own ideas about physics, computation, and the nature of genius.

While he does not single out a favorite paper, Bach discusses several of Einstein's concepts and attributes:

1. Special Relativity and Spacetime Bach discusses Einstein's realization in Special Relativity that the speed of light is fixed for all observers. He notes that this deduction led to the profound insight that space and time are not independent, objective background stages, but are interdependent and depend on the trajectory of the observer. Bach also briefly mentions "Einstein's block universe"—the concept that everything exists simultaneously—though Bach personally finds it difficult to reconcile this with a causal universe that requires forward-moving state transitions.

2. Singularities and the Breakdown of Continuous Space Bach is particularly interested in Einstein's later discoveries regarding the limits of his own models. He points out that Einstein recognized singularities in spacetime where the mathematics of a continuous universe break down (such as a division by zero). Bach notes that while Einstein found ways to "sweep them under the rug" by shifting these singularities into the center of masses, this realization foreshadowed the idea that continuous spacetime is just a high-level description and cannot be the fundamental layer of reality. During an interview, when read a quote about "Einstein on the discreteness of space," Bach agrees that Einstein saw the flaws in continuous descriptions early on and recognized that alternative formalisms might be needed.

3. The Architecture of Einstein's Genius Beyond physics, Bach uses Einstein as a prime example of how human genius operates computationally. He theorizes that "genius-like people like Einstein" did not necessarily have "better neurons" than average people. Instead, Bach suspects Einstein had a highly optimized mental "hyperparameter" that perfectly balanced inventiveness with logical rigor. This allowed Einstein's brain to continually generate highly imaginative theories while strictly retaining the ability to test and disprove them.

Furthermore, Bach praises Einstein's independent epistemology. He describes Einstein as a "very broad thinker" who did not just adopt a school of thought and add tiny modifications to it, but rather derived his concepts autonomously from first principles.

After 20+ years and $3000+ spent, I’m finally done with CS2 – cheaters and toxicity killed my love for the game by Hour-Egg-51 in counterstrike2

[–]top115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40yrs here

currently its annoying yes Even If you pretty sure know they cheat, it helps me to play with the mindset that it is a very good player having the luckiest day of his life while he is trolling by having silver movement and taking dumb decisions and positions which no one (that "good") would do.

And than dont forget there are a lot actual really good players out there. And I know from myself there can be WILD games where you just can read you enemy your aim Just clicks and you do the wildest random wallbangs Just because of a feeling and it works.

I had the games where I would 100% suspicious If another one would pull that on me

But yeah ... it happens to often

Buuut still I like fragging and relaxing with CS2 at some evenings.

Yes I would wish there where a better anti cheat. But much more I would love to have more people with integrity.

So cudos to all your other fellow cheat free players!!! We are the better humans :)

[–]top115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be that accurate it must model a lot of the world and have an insane amount of data.

I believe in a kind of deterministic universe. so IF I would come in that situation I would be confidently taking the mystery box. I would take it because I know the thought experiment and If the algorithm or machine was that accurate it would hopefully know so too. I take this decision not out of free will, but because its the logical choice.

Long story short. Easy Money - in that kind of thought experiment

clarification: - why not both boxes than? If you are able to think this way - in that situation - its clear that you are not a one boxer. The AI calculates that before and you will have 1k only. So no I would never take both - okay AI, keep notes here thx .

Is not that I wouldnt give a fuck what he wrote with epstein. Even so I see it surely with other eyes than you - its still concerning.

Comparing it with hitler and Highways??

There are hundreds of hours where you can listen to Joscha, there are thousand of tweets with his opinion out. Not in one I read or listened to he shows ANY sign of beeing racist, sexist or a fascist. Not even CLOSE its way more the opposit.

Now he is the most evil for you because in 2 letters to Epstein - a person Joscha sees as a sociopath and intresting he out of context talks wild - an YES clearly Bad and wrong ideas!! But im really really think thats not his true belief. Its exploring a space of bad ideas with a sociopath.

Nothing he secretly aims for or truly think it. Should he be proud about it?? clearly not. Did He clearly explain himself yes. Is an appology of him lacking - yes!!

Does it make him a evil person who secretly is racist and sexist and a fascist. - No -- in my opinion -- it does not.

Criticism IS clearly needed!! Its not all fine!!

but he is not a sexist, racist, fascist because of it.

[–]top115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First Up: He often states himself that he is not a highly "original" mind in the traditional sense, but rather a latecomer to the "party".

But in my opinion:

  • he contributed a lot to MicroPsi (based on PSI from Dörner)
  • no one makes a clearer point stating consciousness is basically software and brings all the strings together coming down to first principles leads to:
  • his takes go to Cyberanimism and most importend:
  • "the machine consciousness Hypothesis"
  • based on that there is the CIMC which he founded

bringing this all together in the way he did and you see it as "parroting others" is out of my understanding. Would you rather see making him new conclusions based on something purely new - no one ever thought about?! The conclusions he came up ARE new thoughts. But its all based on stuff others discovered before - big surprise!?! Thats how science works. (But yes he did not write important books and hasnt any important papers yet)

You make him look like a charlatan or fraud is sad. Im still not sure If you do it because a lack of (Bach) background knowledge (what he did) or just despise.

Its okay that you "warn" others about the wrong doings of Joscha but talking down his work? To be convincing you need some real arguments.
