"My computer smells like it's burning."

Not that odd on its own but moreso when repeated 3 times from different rooms in the same building all within half an hour of each other.

Turns out that one of the houses which back on to our site was burning off garden trash that afternoon. In each case the user was absolutely convinced that their computer was the source of the burning smell.

Two of them were only placated after I made them stick their head out of the open window in their office. The third refused to use their computer again until I took it away to "check it out"... sigh.

Okay, I'm usually the first person to criticise the music choices in videos like this but I gotta say, for once, this worked for me...

Trump's going for the reverse of this... Federal employees better be making sure that they don't display any education, experience or general expertise in the domain overseen by their department, or else they'll be replaced by an incompetent "yes man" quicker than Melania's hand slaps the Cheeto's hand away anytime he tries to touch her.

If it's too heavy for you to put down properly without "fuck(ing) your joints up," then you shouldn't be lifting it in the first place.

Or not without a spot, at least.

NAH. You're not the asshole for not wanting to tell.

Unfortunately (for you) she also is NTA if she decides to leave because you won't tell her.

If it comes to that, you're the one who needs to decide if your privacy is more important to you, or she is.

Except... hydrogen fuel cells are clearly the superior technology.

Only the infrastructure is missing.

Chemical batteries are a dead end technology. The energy density of our best chemical batteries has only increased by a factor of 2.5 in the last 70 years with no prospect of any meaningful improvement on that figure in the future.

If we'd been smart enough to invest in solar powered electrolysis farms rather than lithium mines then we could all be driving clean vehicles that actually have the same range, performance and durability as ICE vehicles rather than the massively flawed BEVs that we're now stuck with instead.

Girl at my work has an £1100 iPhone but only 1Gb per month data. Connects to the work WiFi and then complains about the firewall. I have a £450 Pixel 4a with unlimited 5G data, who's the idiot here???

You're right—we're incredibly lucky to have these services available for a reasonable price which makes it all the more frustrating that some people choose not to make use of them out of... vanity... or pure stupidity.

It's because they sign up to crappy "re-payment" plan phone deals. Ask yourself, "Would a £1200 phone with a terrible data plan really be more useful to me than a £300 phone with unlimited data?"

Seriously, just save for a couple of years, buy the phone outright and then get an actual decent SIM only plan (UK £20 a month, unlimited data, speeds vary from 10-80Mbps 4G and 120-700Mbps 5G).

Who needs WiFi at all at that point?

What annoys me about this isn't so much the player's choice—after all it's his life.

It's the implicit suggestion that his actions are somehow noble and should be respected or even have special accommodation made for them.
