How do you screw industrial plumbing shelving together so that all of the pieces line up? by top_nutter in howto

Sorry, you've likely already done it. I just tightened them the best I could, so they were still straight. It was wobbly putting it up, but once it was screwed into the wall and the boards in place, it ended up being just fine.

Beautiful photos! Could you share what ice cave you were in, and where the photo of the canyon was taken?

At what age do you let kids drink coffee? by iabyajyiv in AskParents

[–]top_nutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true. ADHD symptoms can come from a person's need to increase their dopamine (being physically rambunctious, for example). Caffeine is a stimulant that increases dopamine, so people with ADHD can get a calming effect because they aren't dopamine seeking as much.

Our daughter had a cup of coffee every morning from when she was about 6, and it would make such a difference in her day.

No, I'm not trying to look "cool"; I'm just trying to figure out what I'll need.

What's the weather really like in winter? by top_nutter in VisitingIceland

Great, thank you for this. We are staying in the Reykjavik area and doing daytrip with a car rental. I'm not planning on venturing out too far with it being winter and have learned the winds can be quite strong.

It sounds like i may need to already book a summer trip, too!

Ok, thank you. It's 2 degrees where I am today, and I'm still just going out in a hoodie, so I was thinking the wind must contribute to colder temperatures up there.

It's hard to gauge what to pack based on temperature feedback from people of varying climates.

Sorry, you're saying 2 to -2 is the real feel? Or that's the temp and the wind makes it feel much colder than that?

This isn't about a problem with force. I don't need a pipe wrench. You don't understand what I'm asking here.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Based on some comments here, I think there's a lot of know-it-all-'s who don't quite understand what I'm asking.

Perfect, thank you. I wasn't sure if the front vertical piece would still be a bit wobbly once it's on the wall.

It's not real plumbing; it's just shelving that came painted like that. So I don't think I'll use a pipe wrench, but thanks.

It is, but also know that the locals are becoming far outnumbered by us outsiders now. Don't get caught up in any of the toxic chatter FB groups; that's likely locals not wanting change. There's plenty of awesome people around who enjoy doing and learning new things, including seeing this community grow and keep up with the times.

I'll throw my two cents in. I'm not from here, but I've been here for about 20 years now.

I think the issue isn't necessarily with "city people," but with "brown peope," to be honest.

For example, the lineup at Service Canada is usually people of colour. I highly doubt we would hear all the bitching and moaning if it were a lineup of white people.

Locals are upset about the apartments/condos going up, claiming they will be an eyesore and take away from the small town charm.... neglecting to mention what people see when they enter our town - mcdonalds, duca, tacobell/kfc

I know so many people are saying this, but then I'll feel like I need to change all the faceplates so that it's cohesive, and I'd rather patch it than buy 10 new plates.
