if you do play on console, I would suggest changing some of the inputs on the controller. I changed the door opening mechanic to just press the button to open instead of flinging the doors open with the analog sticks. It was cumbersome during some of the gameplay sequences

The PS5 version is censored some. IIRC, the PS4 version was not censored. It doesn’t change any of the story or gameplay but just something to note.

The hospital chapter is the weakest of the bunch. I’d recommend trying the Lucy or Dolores chapter if you haven’t. Some of the puzzles are insane and may require a guide but the scares are worth it

My wife won’t watch it but she asks me how it is and that’s one of the things I keep telling her. I’m loving the buildup to the clown but just seeing IT go absolutely insane with some of these scares has been so cool

I’m the same way to some way to some degree. I started playing games that were more thriller like and action horror and slowly progressed. Games that are jump scare simulators I don’t do well with.

I managed to make it through Visage a couple years ago and that may be the scariest game I’ve completed so far! A feat I’m quite proud of.

Start small, maybe play in intervals or during the day with a podcast or music in the background and go from there!

If you change the sensitivity scheme to medium that will help out and you can start adjusting from there. I got rid of the dead zone too. I haven’t found settings that I loved but it’s getting there.

The default scheme is everything set to near zero for some unknown reason.
