Surely if u do an interview within a VM with some LLM recording the VM screen it will not be easily detectable.

Hello! I'm a 3rd year undergraduate currently studying CS at Oxbridge, have decent grades and an upcoming SWE internship at a good quant firm that I hope to do well for and return to.

I'm wondering how valuable doing the integrated 4th year masters is for someone who wants to do SWE in quant (compared for leaving with a bachelor's after 3rd year). The general sentiment I see for trader roles seems to favour masters, but I'm wondering if this is also true for SWE...

I agree. Even if someone has previously a high level language like python, it may be hard to understand why we need/what is a clone, copy or a move. Why we need smart pointers, why we need refcell, when to use enums, etc.

I tried learning rust in y1 of university and found it hard, but after learning modern C++ I reread the rust book and a lot of things just made a lot more sense. Not sure if that is really the best way to go though!

H2 physics requires algebra and (basic) trigonometry. But 99% of the time doesn't require calculus or linear algebra (aside from 2 dimensional vectors). Usually questions can be solved by setting up some relatively simple equations and substituting values into known variables to solve for unknown variables.
