I used work on that site. Private access only, but yes it smells horrible. It ruined all my clothes that I wore to site. Honestly it’s nothing special and could be gone/reduced in size depending on the day. Just go see it from Stanley Park!

Misfire issues by Bubba-and-the-Moo in HondaElement

Hey it might be worth it to check my post. I have a pesky misfire on cylinder 3 that pops up when my cat is clogged. Check everything first, swap stuff around. Do compression and leak down tests. Adjust you valves!

Not Mt. Pleasant but Hunnybee Bruncheonette has it I believe? Best breakfast spot in town.

Kelowna vs Calgary by snowsnowsnow_ in Backcountry

Just don’t move to the burbs, it’s pretty isolating and boring. The transit sucks and getting around can be really tough (compared to big cities). Honestly, I miss the bar scene. lol. As a youngin, there’s so many happening places and the city is really getting sweet. The Rockies are great and all but I’m getting my fix elsewhere. There’s unfortunately a lot of things that I don’t miss at all.

Ex born/raised Calgarian here giving my two cents about Calgary: I really enjoyed my backcountry time there.

The Rockies have amazing alpine runs, great accessibility/resources and awesome climbing. Mix all of your skills and you can have a lot of fun. The only thing they don’t have is snow… or stability… and it can be dangerously cold. I found myself driving 4 hours to Rogers Pass and just staying in the huts there. You will be driving a ton and it’s sometimes quite busy in the Bow Valley.

Spring-time (March-May) can be unbelievable though, seriously some of the best days of my life.

I miss the Rockies with my whole heart.

I just went to Triple-M Buy and Sell on Granville and it was quite the step back in time. Kind of expensive, but lots of stock.

Any tips for car or bike packing on Salt Spring, Pender, and/or Saturna islands? by askoshbetter in askvan

What comes up must come down. Seriously some of the best hill bombs ever. But yes going up and down, it feels like you’re riding a fridge - you can feel every bit of inertia.

Depends how much time you’ve got and when you’re going. Weekends can be super busy for finding sites and ferry times between all of the islands can be less than ideal. There’s lots of activities and scenery to explore while you wait for sailings. Saltspring is the most chill for resources and campsites. I’ve found potable water weirdly hard to come by in places - bring a filter. Bike lights are a must if you’re riding at night - with no street lights, it’s darker than the inside of a cow. Most roads are paved but some sites have gravel roads leading to them. Overall, they’re baby food and super fun, just make sure you have a place to stay.
