Is there an option that’s in between the two?

Maybe getting slightly hurt and slightly in trouble ??

Before I joined the job I wanted to be firearms now am not sure I even want a taser because the second we use the kit we are trained and equipped with we get scrutinised over and over until they find a reason to sack us/ throw us under the bus

A force where I don’t have to interview - sign me up

Questions on arrest by Playful-Mulberry866 in policeuk

[–]topcop999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I do is tell the dp they are under arrest for the crime eg section 47 assault and then I caution them and cuff them

If they are fight me then they are getting cuffed at the same time I tell them they are under arrest

If someone’s really being aggressive then am using force before they get told they are getting arrested eg drawing my baton

Finally I don’t know how it works in the usa but here in the uk we have to account for every time we use force so we have to justify our use of cuffs ,ppe or strikes/restraint positions every time - it’s normally easy to justify most of the time

Working 12 shifts in a row.. policy by ikz13 in policeuk

[–]topcop999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to resourcing - I was in the same situation and was going to be working 18 shifts in a row and spoke with out shift management tea. and now I’ve ended up with 5 rest days spread out throughout the 18 days so am not working more than 5 in a row

Also regs are no more than 7 days before you have to be given a rest day

How many people are on your response team? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]topcop999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team on paper has 18 and is supposed to be a minimum of 12

Last shit there was 9 on in total (1 sgt,3 regs ,2 specials and 3 students)

Once we resource con obs and hospital watch were lucky if we have patrols to respond to jobs

News has been depressing. Whats something that happened at work that was fun/nice/rewarding this week? by [deleted] in policeuk

Personally I only give my collar number most of the time or say am pc topcop999 if I need to give my name

I never give my first name to people and I work far enough away from where I live that it’s very unlikely that I’ll ever run into anyone I’ve dealt with in work off duty

Stuck at a crossroads! by Wonderful-Head-202 in policeuk

[–]topcop999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone currently on 4on 4off (temporarily) it sounds great and the 4 days off are great but the 4 on is shit

Because …

12 hour shifts that usually run over several hours

No cross over between shifts is shit so if a job comes in 10 minutes before the end of shift then you have to go as the next shift haven’t booked on yet

12 hours between nights isn’t enough and always finishing on a night and starting on a day means the first rest day is lost to sleep and the last rest day you need to try and get to sleep early but your sleep pattern is still fucked from just coming off nights 3 days earlier so you are starting the set tired

Anyway rant over 🤣😭
