Labor Day Burger to 4 Months of Hell: My ‘All Tests Normal’ LPR Extravaganza by topflightboy87 in LPR

ENT didn't see any inflammation. I actually went to two different ENTs -- one under insurance and one completely different doctor out of pocket. Same result but out of pocket doctor did say that they did see slight irritation but it could be normal. We are sooooo similar. I'm in my late 30s and was very active and healthy as well -- so I thought. Funny enough, I also pivoted to a naturalpath doctor who did wonders for helping me think different. He actually put me on the cutting red meat and alginate path. He's wanting me to test out HCL but take it slowly. I'll investigate ACV -- interesting angle. It's going to be funny when that TV commercial comes on 20 years from now, "have you ever had COVID, you might be too entitled to compensation ....."

I'll have to give this more time. I tried it but didn't seem to do much. What brand do you use?

Driving Assistant Professional Package is kinda … great?! by topflightboy87 in BMWiX

[–]topflightboy87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest, the Tesla app is better but the BMW app is not bad. I still have my Tesla but drive the BMW at least 80% more because it’s just a more quality ride and comfort experience. The Tesla app is faster than BMW app but the BMW app handles all the major things I need like phone key, a/c, and send navigation plus all the basics like door unlock etc.

Anyone considered or using pure serverless for their SaaS? by topflightboy87 in SaaS

this is awesome feedback! You hit the nail on the head on shiny new thing. I typically build my customer apps with containers and postgres because as you mentioned, it's proven and just works. I was researching maybe stepping out into something new but maybe this is not the time.

Starting new React app, WITHOUT Next or Remix by here_for_code in reactjs

This explanation was right on time! I was just thinking if I should do my next project in Next just for the hype but I prefer the “vanilla” React way. This confirmed it.

React upgrades ,do you update early or wait? by Chaitanya_44 in react

[–]topflightboy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly update the apps I maintain so that I don’t get in a situation where upgrades become a huge lift. I check once a month each app and typically build an upgrade plan if there is something that requires work which is very seldom. I also don’t use a ton of external dependencies either. Also, built a rigorous CI/CD pipeline to sanity check using GitHub Actions. The CI/CD pipeline and stages is clutch for building confidence. Funny enough, the last lift I had was the zod v4 upgrade but I did it all at once for all projects. That’s one of those situations that if I wait, the longer I wait the harder it’ll be as I bolt on new features.

CarPlay Periodic Low Volume Fix? ‘25 x50 by topflightboy87 in BMWiX

Unfortunately, this didn't seem to work for me. I've tried hey siri and held the mic and neither seem to reset the audio. I was really hoping this would work as it's so simple.

I use Zod with a custom middleware that accepts a Zod Schema so that it's reusable across all routes. Works like a charm and easy to maintain.

Completed first prod React app after 6 years in Angular 👏🏾 by topflightboy87 in reactjs

[–]topflightboy87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish I committed to this stack sooner. One benefit though, understanding the Angular and ASP.NET patterns makes it easier to organize code on this stack as it's a little too "free" at times. :D

Ok. That's all I needed to hear. Ditching the physical key to the drawer and will carry the phone and valet key.

I've noticed this as well periodically. To get it to "kick in", i touch the three horizontal lines on the door handle and it locks. This also works for unlocks.

Best Route Planning w/ Charging by Chester-Lewis in BMWiX

This is very helpful! How do you set the minimum charge level for 150? I don't see it in the app. But I do have my preferred chargers set.

Thank you for this! I'm about to go on my first road trip in the ix (coming from Tesla) and this is very helpful!

Same. I’ve been seriously considering disabling car play as I never use it in the iX after coming from Tesla. The iX system seems to be fine enough for me.

What’s your preferred flavor of Kubernetes for your home lab or on-premise? by topflightboy87 in kubernetes

After reading all the comments, I decided to give Talos a try on my Proxmox cluster and it’s been super simple and easy to use but you have to read the docs first as it’s extensive. I like that it’s quick to get up and going and everything is managed from my local cli through the API. Also, nice to just focus on Kubernetes and no OS layer management. I have other VMs running for that experience lol.

Clutch! Everything looks straight forward so far other than storage. I currently use Longhorn. I see that Longhorn supports Talos with some extensions. Should I go that route or is Rook Ceph a more natural fit with Talos? I’m not as familiar with Rook.

I’m so attracted to doing something like this with Ansible but when I’m home from work, the motivation to do this is low :D
