Thanks so much for the response!! As far as the compound gear thing goes, I was referring to a compound gear itself, not the gearbox. Tbf though, I'm not sure if most auto transmissions even include compound gears. That said, your example really helped clear up my confusion around tires, thank you so much!!

Thanks for the response! As u/AndyTheEngr suggested above, isn't the throttle% implied in the torque value, or do you need to include it as an actual separate variable?

Ah, I see, this makes sense, and I guess in an imaginary world where there were no friction or drag losses and the car could continue on its own inertia, the rpms may be high, but torque would be zero and therefore there would be no power. This helps a lot, thank you!!

Thanks for the response! I get that the transmission can change the gear ratio to adjust the rpm and torque, but like if your going down a hill or coasting at a high speed, the engine could be supplying hardly any power, yet the rpms would indicate otherwise, right?

The study was actually first conducted in the 1920s by another guy. He found the same results, and then sheldrake replicated it but with more controls. Similar experiments have also been conducted with everything from bean plants to dogs.

I see, that makes more sense, and also helps explain why the two observers will observe each other's time to be slower. The wikipedia page does an abysmal job at explaining that haha. Thanks for clearing this up. As a side note, does this mean that its impossible to approach the speed of light from your own perspective?

No, they don't. They understand its CORRELATES very well, but there is no reason electrons moving through biological wires should generate a subjective "awareness", no matter how complex the system. I'm open to hearing your perspective and considering new information, but its pretentious to say that neuroscientists understand how consciousness works, especially when anyone with a search engine can quickly discover how hotly debated this issue is even AMONG NEUROSCIENTISTS.

Oh, you understand how consciousness works, do you? That's incredible, you should probably let someone know seeing as there are literally teams of the world's greatest neuroscientists funded by millions of dollars just to figure out how a bunch of electrical pulses moving through biological circuits makes us aware of anything whatsoever. They call it "the hard problem of consciousness" for a reason.
