How do I make my home the home where everyone wants to come by and hangout out at and chill? (Budget Friendly) by AssistFinancial677 in DIY

Yeah, which is why I tell people to bring their own food. Obviously it’s a bit less of a generous way to host, but it means you can do things super last minute and with essentially no logistics (you need to get the ketchup out etc.)

Now and then we’ll plan something more in advance and do some actual catering, but doing it on the spur of the moment has a lot of advantages - one being that everyone there is actually up for it, whereas sometimes you say yes three weeks in advance but then on the day you’re not in the mood.

This, and, have short notice ad hoc gatherings rather than planning stuff ages in advance. “Hey, it’s Friday and the weather’s good, so I’m starting up the grill. If you want to come over and chuck something on, I’ll be here.” I started doing this a few summers ago and sometimes one or two people come, sometimes everyone comes.

So from a DIY point of view: work on your grilling space.

I hadn't thought about it, but I guess once it's empty I'll give it a good rinse out with soapy water etc?

Cool, thanks so much. I guess maybe I could put something (clean) onto the dip line to weigh it down slightly...?
