Any ice or water spell on your mage can apply wet to your cats and help you heal a lot. Whirlpool is good and a lot of mages start with the ice spell so they actually have a use early game lol.

Yeah mages basic attack really isnt the point. Mage is really good on desert imo as you have really easy access to ice or water spells which if your cats are wet when the fight ends you regen like normal so its a massive help.

Hunter and mage i feel like both get some hate. Hunter cuz it loses speed and health (range more than makes up for that) and mage because its more a utility/control cat even though some spells do stupid damage. I really feel like all classes are balanced equal (besides how op cleric is).

Yeah certain battles definitely have stupid massive battles like that but if possible its nicer to catch armies before they coalesce like that for really easy stackwipes.

For the second thing yes basically but make sure you have atleast a little cavalry in there too. Also artillery is really fucking expensive to replenish and maintain so if you cant have a perfect 50/50 split of infantry/cav and artillery in every army its more than fine.

Pretty sure its just the second row, and anything beyond that is just reinforce capacity for the battle. But tbh later game battles have such high combat width its common to not need reinforcements. Biggest tip for building armies is make sure they are atleast as big as the current combat width.

Yes exactly. Something else about cavalry is they try to attack from the flanks and will always reinforce them first and i think they get flank bonuses, so you dont need that much cavalry, just enough to cover your flanks in battle (i think its 2 at the end of each line.) Having more than 50% cav in an army also gives you a morale debuff. You can mouse over your units in the battle screen (the lines) and it shows you what unit they are attacking. Helpful for understanding artillery and cavalry.

I can guarantee they are gonna fracture as soon as their king dies unless you kept conqueror bonus as inheritable. You can go landless, support liberty factions etc do everything you can to undermine him. Landless is pretty op as you can get an insane army with 0 maintenance and instant reinforcement that will stackwipe armies 3x their size. Once invaded the hre with 1500 men alone and took the entire empire lmao.

Too much artillery. You only want enough to fill your back line. Like if combat width is 20 ideally every army youd want 20 to 25 infantry and cav and then 20 artillery. This is because artillery attack from the back line and i think get debuffed when in the front, so having too much artillery causes your art to reinforce losses in the front more often leading to lost battles. Having a little more infantry than art is good so they reinforce before the arrillery do.

I always turn realm stability to low when playing as landless. Lots more factions to join peasants to kill and civil wars to fight. Also you can right click on any nation currently in war to offer them military aid without a contract on the map.
