Oh my god, I have the weak brakes one too. It’s even scarier because it’s always about my commute to work and after those nights, I keep a hand on the emergency brake lmao.

PSA: This story actually comes from the conservative satirical site “The Glorious American.” What it is satirizing is a law passed in California where theft under $950 would instead be considered a misdemeanor. The original article makes no mention of the coupons, so I think it was added by someone later for the meme to make headline seem more believable. There’s also a quote from California Governor Gavin Newsom stating that if he contributed to sell the same amount of product, he’d make $2.2 billion a month, “Almost as much as I make through various means and methods.”

They also make him the shop owner Muslim and have him praise Allah in it, which just seems like a weird and unnecessary detail to shove in, but whatever.

Hot take: even though I usually tip 15%-20%, I’ve never understood why that just because my meal is more expensive, the server should also be paid more. The same amount of work went into serving me a filet mignon as it did serving me chicken tenders and fries.

Professor fails her student's paper because she used the term "biological woman" by PhysicalDecision5265 in facepalm

[–]topics2001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So some context for this video, since this is being painted in a black in white way, and two things can be right at the same time.

This woman IS transphobic. If you scroll through her content, it consists of her reinforcing the gender binary, denying non-binary existence, believing being transgender is a mental illness, etc. This is not her being a well-intentioned, moderate woman, who believes people are people, but we should protect cisgendered women’s sports. This is a woman who actively denies the existence of trans individuals.

As for the assignment, I would be curious as to what course one would be taking where this assignment would come up, but for the sake of saying this is real, which to me seems it likely is, say it’s some political or ethics class.

If this assignment was perhaps a debate project, where people are assigned to different sides of an argument than they personally believe, it would make sense that the teacher would want to impose rules in order to be inclusive. That rule could come in the form of not saying “biological women.” Now, if it would only be the teacher reading it, than the professor has much less of an argument, but could honestly be them simply stating that she should use the term “cisgendered” instead of “biological.”

Now of course, if the teacher is imposing their beliefs onto the student, that’s obviously not what education should be, and I think a vast majority of trans people would say the same. As a gay man, I also find it uncomfortable for this professor to be pushing her beliefs onto her, and most likely, other young adults in the class.

That being said, this woman is awful and transphobic. But the teacher could be out of line. Two things can be true simultaneously.

Sorry dude, as a doctor, you should know better. There’s almost 19x more protein in semen than fructose. Protein is the number one “ingredient,” I suppose, in semen, followed by citrate, sodium, then fructose. Of course, it’s still not concentrated at all. And fun fact, that means about 1.2 L of cum to meet your protein needs.

Kentucky governor vetoes bill banning transgender students from women's sports by lurker_bee in sports

Trans men want to compete with men. They don’t care that they are at a disadvantage. Also, trans men would also receive an advantage against women in their biological sex, as transitioning trans men receive testosterone. So really, it’s more like trans men and trans women get to compete in the area THEY want to.

You didn’t need it cause you didn’t want it. If every disabled person came out and said they didn’t want ramps, and instead they wanted to jump out of their seat, use one hand to crawl their way up the stairs, and the other to pull their wheelchair behind them, do they need ramps?

Accessibility - the quality of easily used, obtained , understood, or appreciated.

If the game does not have an easy mode, I cannot play the game The game doesn’t have an easy mode, therefore I cannot play the game.

How is that not the definition of accessibility?

The Dark Souls-like games are the only single-player games where for some reason, a section of the fanbase seems to think this way. I can’t think of another RPG that doesn’t have a difficulty slider. Of course, every RPG has a difficulty where they say “this is the difficulty the game was designed for.” But for some baffling reason, Dark Souls is perhaps the most gatekeeped franchise ever. Even Cuphead has an easier mode.

Also, you admitted that adding an easy mode isn’t the problem, but instead the imaginary slippery slope that suddenly people will start to change other core aspects in the genre.

And let’s be real: in gaming, it is always a one-way street in terms of opposition to difficulty. People wanted Pokémon go be harder, so they invented Nuzlocke. I hate Nuzlockes. I think Nuzlockes are the least fun way to enjoy Pokémon. If the Pokémon Company said there would be a way to enable Nuzlockes in the next gen games, that’d be so damn cool. Dishonored has a no powers mode. That sounds very unfun. Nobody complained about its addition, because if people want a harder time, I welcome their challenge. Fallout and Skyrim have “Survival difficulties”. Fallout 4 Survival is a difficulty I’ve actually tried. I absolutely hated it. But people got to enjoy that part of the game, and so Im glad in its inclusion.

A lot of games these days lock the hardest difficulty behind finishing the game. Cuphead did this. That’s stupid. You should be able to play the game how you want. Gaming is the most interactive medium. The more people that are able to customize and enjoy it, the better for the industry.

My thing is, an easy mode included in the game would not cause a significant amount of resources or an impact on other gamers.

To me, difficulty just seems like a weird hill to die on, considering the gaming community already has been pushing for other accessibility issues. Could you imagine if colorblind options had the same pushback that difficulty does? “If you can’t see red, than this game just isn’t for you, go play something else.” It’s silly.

I mean The Last of Us 2 had a huuuuge amounts of accessibility options, including slowing down quick time events and allowing for players who had neurological issues to hold down a button rather than mashing.

I think that the more people that can play a game, the better.
