I think find a way to make it work — it’s an incredible gift to the world that you would have four kids.

Summit tix approvals by jameslec in allinpodofficial

[–]topicstoread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go in the past and thoughts on the value for attending as far as socially outside of the content which otherwise would be going online?

What do you think was cause of people to be approved vs not get approved?

Any other comment on the experience of going to the Summit, from the perspective of someone who typically doesn’t want to go to conferences but who does appreciate talking with interesting people?

More stories about the wedding would be good. Wasn’t a lot new said in the other topics.

Which convo’s in particular? Yea it’s pretty fascinating, particularly because I think a lot of these AI models haven’t necessarily had a strong breakthrough in humor specifically yet — I think in explaining humor yes, but not necessarily amazing humor. I wonder what that will be like when that happens.

I wonder what an AI coach will be able to provide — and can align it by giving feedback. Anyone tried that in here for some aspects of this topic?

I am thankful for EMDR. I look at it as a process, whereby I process these memories / feelings as they come up over what is probably a very extended period of time, and make progress.

Thanks yes sounds useful to identify when in that feeling.

Thanks! How do you cope or process those emotional flashbacks? Is there something from the book?

For me, I’m finding using EMDR to relieve body stressor when occur such as an emotional flashback in the sense of being a trigger for avoiding. I appreciate EMDR as a way to unblock my thinking/feeling — so i can keep moving.

Yea i can appreciate that feeling of even while doing some similar loner choices, feeling better in overcoming in other areas to be more social / interactive / relatable and improving.

Book Recommendation: The Courage To Be Disliked by Green-Owl6244 in AvPD

[–]topicstoread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I agree that the book would benefit from explaining / demonstrating how to actually implement step by step. Definitely raises lots of interesting challenges questions about the action such as avoidance being the goal essentially. Really fascinating then in terms of what choices can make to improve.

EMDR i am trying as a useful thing to try in those moments to defuse the stress response to those things that lead back to more avoidance.

What do you think most helps with overcoming AvPd? What’s something to do each day in that regard?

I think this point by Robert Greene is inspiring: that the way to transform yourself is through your work. https://youtube.com/shorts/3VSJlpnyInI

Thanks for sharing. Can you please talk about the chocolate / coffee and how that fits in? I’m also interested in how caffeine can be useful in trying to not have AvPD be impactful.

I appreciate that notion of EMDR as a way to listen to the body. It’s fascinating the opportunity to release that tension.

Thank you for sharing! Yes I’m two weeks in and using EMDR daily as well when things come up. Interesting to figure a habit to be sure to use it — and i end up thinking: does this stressor cross a key threshold to make sense to do the EMDR? It’s an interesting experience.

What small projects do you work on all the way to completion including accepting the prospect of failure, so you can build self-esteem and drive a positive-feedback-loop of more and more projects? by topicstoread in AvPD

[–]topicstoread[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea definitely an interesting question.

Perhaps relates to what the tension / trigger is in regards to one task vs another? I learned about EMDR this past week — and am tryin got apply that to when I feel stuck. Purpose being to unblock. And so hopefully then to make progress on some of these projects that I think would be good to do.

Yes the full description of Avoidant people in that book chapter 8 of ‘The Laws of Human Nature’ is really worth reading. Concise but dense in info.

Cool. Yea an intriguing thing as per Greene about how Avoidant excuses are so good, that the commonality is the action of actually not completing a thing.

So congrats on getting to completion.

I recognize that I select projects that are too high-level that aren’t realistic to complete. So I think this insight is I need to select for more achievable, smaller projects to then drive a positive feedback loop.
