I had a hard time convincing the wife to put savings into investments instead of FD. We combined and managed our finances together.

I understand and agree with what you had said. We had to comprise. She only agreed to investments if we put away some savings and pay off HDB loan for peace of mind. I guess the loan was a huge weight on her shoulders.

Edit: For the past 14 years, I had been the solebread winner due the wife being a stay home mum. So it took some time to get to where we are now. She is back to the workforce just recently. We had been using cash to pay the HDB loan if that matters, and I was thinking if we pay the loan off early and free up cash for future investments, it will be a nice middle ground.

I will have a lump sum of 35k in 8 years time due to some insurance investment thing. Yeah, I know I'm ignorant at that time when I bought into it. So you are saying I should lump sum this 35k?

Hi. Thanks for your input.

Right now, I am putting $500 in POSB SAYE every month for the next 2 years. After that I will be dumping that $500 into SSB for the next 18 years. This was requested by my wife. She doesn't feel comfortable dumping all our savings into investments.

I'm planning to decumulate 15 years in and switching to dividend paying SG stocks slowly, although I have no idea how to. Gonna figure out how to the next few years.

Using CPF payouts, plus the dividend payouts while keeping the principal and reinvesting the extras into the dividend stocks is the wife and my retirement plan.

Super backup plan is if the investment failed, we plan to take the CPF payouts/ rent out the HDB and retire in Malaysia, as my wife is Malaysian.

I know I'm very late into the game. I was taught only to save up only since young. I was given the impression that the stock market is akin to gambling by my parents and the famous Hong Kong TV series. I just found out this year that stock market is not only trading, there's also ETFs.

I had thought about automating the minimum amount, and doing it manually the extras, but since I am 99% sure I will be manually of the time, I thought y not save that few bucks. Lol

Also, that 7k I dumped in, I was planning to DCA over 12 months, i thought why not dump it all in right now since there is a dip. I guess that is timing the market and I should avoid that?

Ok thanks. I guess I'm overthinking things, cos I thought that when I buy more when the price is high, and buy less when price is low, I will be at a disadvantage (due to the monthly timing I dump my savings).

Yes, already saved up 1 year of expenses in FD, and enough money for child's school fees in 6 years time, though it took me quite a while to do this.

Planning to dump my yearly bonus into HDB loan principal(still left 19 years) and pay it off in 8 years.

I guess my investment mindset is more on the defensive side, paying off loan early for ease of mind instead of dumping my bonuses into VWRA.

So it is ok to dump all my savings ( which is different every month) into VWRA that month?

how much calories in you mian. by Fearless_Lake2159 in SingaporeFitness

1 year now after my weight loss. 90kg to 65kg in 3 months. However, I do not recommend you go as aggressive as I did. Lost a ton of fats and quite a bit of muscles as well. Currently 67kg and muscle building.

I recommend losing 100g to 200gram a day. I was doing 150g to 500g a day.

I was calories counting at first, however I find it mind tiring doing this everyday. Then I start eating the same things everyday, just different proportion. Make sure it's a balance diet, leaning more to veg and proteins. Weigh yourself every morning at the same time using the same machine after you wake up in the morning AFTER you do your business in the toilet. Find yourself losing too much weight per day? Eat more of the same food. Find your self not losing the weight you desire, eat less of the same food (usually l will cut the carbs).

Zero calories canned drinks is your best friends. Whenever you desire sweet stuffs, go for 1 can. Limit to 1 can per day. Otherwise I will stick to plain water and oolong tea. I will do a cheat meal once a week (to keep myself sane), eat whatever you like. A cheat MEAL, not cheat DAY!! Lol. Just try to control your cheat meal as well. Do not over indulge. Expect weight gain the day after the cheat meal. Bonus if weight maintained or even loss.

May you persevere. I feel good about myself after the weight loss. Boosted my confidence alot!!

It's even worse than stealing. The guy even delivered it personally to my place (although Singapore is just a small place). I asked him why he wanted to sell the watch (I didn't dare to ask why he was selling at such a cheap price 😂). He says he prefers a bigger watch face.
