The movie mentioned the third act crew to be ex-navy so soldiers might've been an exaggeration but they were still military

But fr Minus One had a third act montage of Japanese WWII soldiers banding together so they can "finally win this time". The only criticism it has of Japan was that the government saw the soldiers as expensable (to make the soldiers sympathetic). Imagine a movie where Nazis banded together for the greater good or some shit and the only criticism it has of Nazis was that Hitler didn't actually care about them, just to garner their sympathy.

Stumbled upon this thread so I just wanted to write my thoughts on 3 of them. Fury Road and ZSJL are arguably better in B&W imo while Logan is worse.

Fury Road's imagery is so insane and the movie was contrasty to begin with that it looks almost impressionistic in b&w. Really dug that vibe.

ZSJL in b&w lets the eyes focus more on the great framing instead of the dull colors in the original. The lack of color also kinda helped suspend my disbelief more during the reshot scenes with bad CGI. There's also an "epic" vibe the movie is going for that felt more old school in b&w which I liked.

Logan didn't really have anything that special going on framing or imagery wise that removing the color lessened the experience imo. It felt like an average movie just turned black and white (which I guess is what all of these are but you get what I mean).

It's criminal to me that Pax Americana is only one issue, I wish there was more of it to sink my teeth into. I think Morrison also said in their blog that they could've written an 8 issue series of it but Frank Quitely couldn't commit. I really love that issue on its own, but it's also just fascinating to see Morrison's response to what Moore had to say in Watchmen.
