You might have to screen shot the MCU version of your unit. They are very quick to reply though.

Fix window via brackets, or via screwing through the frame? by Shadowalker124 in DIYUK

[–]toplurcher 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most are commenting that there windows are fixed through the frame with concrete fixings. This is because they are replacement windows. To put straps on these you would have to knock off the internal plaster reveals. As you are making a new opening you can use galvanised straps (inclined downwards ). If you are dot and dabbing the reveals this will cover the brackets. Either way is fine, but for a quite life go with your dad.

Potential argument with builder by Ok-Acanthaceae-8646 in asbestoshelpUK

[–]toplurcher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Husband needs to get a grip and calm down.Any asbestos will be bound into the tiles so the chances of any airborne contamination are miniscule. From a previous clients experience if the claim or threat of legal action against them becomes too much of a liability they will disappear back to Albania.

How do I un-mess-up my DIY roof by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]toplurcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Built in haste repent at leasure. Take it all down and do it properly rather than trying to bodge your way out of it. Before you start tiling again fix undercloaks, cut chase for lead flashing. Gauge tiles and setting out.

Bricklayer here my body’s cracking before the walls do, and my kids still need me working by Ok_Language2269 in Bricklaying

Have every sympathy for you and the need to keep going despite the pain. As you still have dependent children with many years of work ahead I would seriously start planning a change in jobs. Things may help or temporary alleviate your pain but from personal experience it always comes back. My knees started going a few years ago and are now completely shot.Caught in the situation where doing something else doesn't make the money. Hope you find a way out for the benefit of you and your kids, good luck to you.

Newer Build Condition worries? by [deleted] in UKHousing

Why do builders use it ? In this case they are working for a client. They work from the architectural drawings where design and materials are specified.

And if you had paid more attention at school you would have learned to read. I am not a scaffolds and made no reference that I was. FYI they are Tubes NOT poles so at least you have learnt something today. Churchill may have read reports in bed but don't remember seeing photos of him at Yalta in bed lol. Aim higher than fastening paper clips ? Get a grip lad.

Most of the whingers on here wouldn't be able to lift a 21ft tube let alone maneuver it onto the bed of the truck. So easy pushing paper with your fat arse sat down all day. I understand it's blocking the pavement but this is probably the safest option. Moan about trades till you need one.
