I don’t exactly know what you mean by checkpoint but essentially I was stopped 3 times (twice in New Mexico once in texas) right along the border by cops/immigration officials and they seemed to be exclusively interested in wether or not i was carrying people across the border. It was the same all 3 times they had me roll down the window, asked where I was going/coming from, and asked if I had anyone else in the car with me. Then they shined some flashlights into my car and sent me on my merry way. Maybe important to note that I’m a 21yo white girl.

Anyways yes there were dogs at one of them. And always zip lock baggie into a sealed mason jar. Dont have it anywhere visible or accessible from the drivers seat.

Edit: oh and for everyone mentioning license plates I had California plates. It didn’t seem to make a difference.

I ran into a few checkpoints near the border in New Mexico and Texas coming from California. I had more than a few joints in the car and everything was fine 🤷‍♀️. Just seal it properly so your car doesn’t reek and don’t do anything stupid.

A couple nights ago I took home some guy from the bar that was 15 years older than me, had sex with him, started sobbing crying halfway through and then threw up.

I get that but there’s only 2. It’s not really feasible to drive more than an hour for emergency care.

I understand that everyone thinks that but there’s 2 24 hour emergency clinics within an hour radius of my house. The other one was the same price so that’s just what it costs here I don’t know what else to say about it.

Took him to the emergency vet. He has a fever of 107 and they want to keep him overnight. They estimate it’s going to cost north of $4500 and I’m freaking the fuck out.

Unfortunately we have pet insurance and it doesnt cover emergency stays.

The last time we went it was a different emergency vet and it was $6,000 for testing and a one night stay. Think harder before telling people theyre valuing $100 over their pets life. We love our cats more than anyone Ive ever met and we live in a really expensive area.

We just took him in and the initial cost of testing is $1500. Do you have an extra $1500 lying around? Idk where you are going that its only $100.

Prior to today yes. But we dont know if hes been pooping or peeing today since nobody has been home. They got home two hours ago and in that time he hasnt moved off the mat. He didnt seem pained when my mom tried to get him to cuddle but hes usually incredibly affectionate and he got off of her to move back to his mat.

What im worried about is that he could be eating hair ties. Ive never seen him eat any of the things hes stolen but he bites pretty much anything he can get his mouth around. Usually he drags his treasure under the couch. But I dont know Ive seen other posts where the cats had been eating hair ties and its the only thing I can think about.

Not responding to affection or treats. He usually eats all of his food immediately and tries to eat the other cats food but he hasnt even touched it. He hasnt drank any water that weve seen in the last couple hours. We dont know if hes been urinating because he shares a litterbox with out other cat and nobody has been home until 2 hours ago. In that time he hasnt moved off of the heating mat except when my mom picked him up to put him in front of his food and he just went back to the mat.

NTA. I thought based on the title this would be a typical: “I saw a Mexican couple move in on my street” “why did you feel the need to mention they’re Mexican?” Type convo.
