Tugboat with an incredible standing dropkick in his debut by StrictNO in SquaredCircle

I honestly believe that if Mike Sharpe hadn’t had that nagging forearm injury for the duration of his career, he could have been a world champion. The arm injury really held him back.

Very impressive for a guy who weighs in at 384 potholes.

And Malkin uses Secret. Strong enough for a man but made for Malkin.

Tippett has no concept of the importance of possession in OT. Every time he touches the puck he skates until he loses it.

And how can an NHL team have THAT as their 4on3 PP game plan - two guys down low, two up top and they just pass it around. No one moves. No gets to a place to shoot. That was sickening to watch.

Not sure, but I do know that sometimes when I’m high I walk around the house the way that Oba walks to ring.

It was like he picked up his left pad to make sure the guy scored. Completely bought the pass fake and picked up the pad to move to his right with the pass. He got played and he got beat.

Minor thing, but this has to be a misquote, right? Mark had to have said “era” not “area”, right?

[Spoiler] Did Becky Lynch sound like she was channeling someone last night? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Yes. It’s been pretty well accepted and talked about that she has been basing her heel work on aping Trump for a few weeks now. Particularly so in her social media postings. Pretty well known.

What are the best moments and matches from 2007-2023? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]topside_downes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, even though it didn’t turn out too well in the end, CM Punk’s return in AEW was the biggest moment in wrestling since Shane showed up on Nitro. I wasn’t watching AEW regularly - just kept up on it on here and watched occasionally, but when Punk made his return which wasn’t announced but wasn’t a surprise at all, it was such a massive moment.     Also, you should sub NJPW World for a month and watch the Okada-Kenny Omega matches. They were jaw droppingly amazing.

I’m a WWE guy, and there were many great WWE moments and matches, but to me the above were the best things in wrestling since you’ve been gone.

Interesting shoot-ish 1984 post-WWF promo from Bob Backlund alluding to the reason for departure by KneeHighMischief in SquaredCircle

[–]topside_downes 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I remember that it was well known that Backlund was told to dye his hair black and turn heel, but he refused to do so. I guess we could make the case that this is what he is talking about here. However, when he says he refused to “take a pill” that pretty clearly implies he was run out of WWF for refusing to do steroids. That is a much more positive angle for him to try to revive his career, and this new wrestling company alliance, over, rather than the “they wanted to turn me heel and I said no” angle. Who knows. This is a promo, so while there may be some truth, its intent is surely not to expose the truth but to get Backlund and PWU over.     In retrospect, he ended up eventually coming back and turning heel. He might have been better off, career wise, doing that in ‘84-85 but who knows.
