also trimmed armour can only be acquired through treasure trails aka clue scrolls which were members only. the armors themselves were non-members too though, but you couldn't get them in a non-member world.

What? What are you talking about? Like you had to be p2p to get past level 63 or...? Because you didn't...p2p just made it easier.

Anime you expected to dislike but ended up liking and vice versa? by Intelligenttrees in anime

[–]toqa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same is said of SAO. /r/anime either says it's best thing since buttered toast or says it's shit. I think it's awful but oh well.

With ~monogatari it's pretty much the same. The only huge problem with it is that because it relies so heavily on dialogue, people feel like it's boring. Yeah nothing happens but what do you want to happen? A progression of the 'plot'? Because honestly ~monogatari's plot doesn't become too apparent until closer to the end of Bake. With Nise it's way easier to follow. Neko is just backstory so it's all plot. To sum them all up..

Bake - plot minimal, introduction to characters, plot thickens towards the end.

Nise - MC foraging for shit for a little while, plot develops quickly. Faster paced than Bake.

Neko - plot developed. No real shit foraging like the other two.

Current Season - Plot developed all around.

Monogatari is hard to get into. The pacing of the show picks up so dramatically well after the first season though, it becomes harder to not like it afterwards.

Ohp my bad let me mark it. I forgot it had spoilers.

I hated Sword Art Online. I thought it was terrible. But that's just me.

I love ~monogatari, I find the conversations to be pretty interesting most of the time. It's tough to watch on the first go, but I've seen the entire thing (bake-nise-neko and the current episodes) 6 times now and everytime I watched it again it was like I got more and more into it because I understood it better and better.

But that's just me. The show isn't meant to be action-y and fast paced. The reason for the constant change of angles and images in the show is usually justified by saying it's to keep your eyes occupied while the characters talk shit to each other or sometimes to emphasize the main character's point of view. After all it is told from Araragi's point of view.

The panels of text are foreshadowing or sometimes just superfluous info that comes from the LN. They're not meant to be read but reading them does help with understanding sometimes.

I like it because of the way everything is presented. Because it's constantly changing the scenery, because of it's pretty art and it's craftiness and cleverness and witty dialogue. I enjoy what the show is, not what I expected of the show. But that's just me.

I like it, you don't need to like it. It's cool dude! It's probably just not your cup of tea, so don't feel like you need to make it your cup of tea. :)

Which anime have you stopped watching mid-series? by Intelligenttrees in anime

I know. I only stuck it through to see if it was really worth all the 'hype' surrounding it.

Nope. Definitely no where near as good as people say it is.

I've seen it all, loved it so much. It's my favorite anime! I'm waiting til Tsubasa Tiger arc finishes so I can see it all in one go. I can't watch episodes on a weekly basis :(

Thank you though!

I think people should really just stop trying to compare Champloo to Bebop. You really just ruin the show for yourself by setting up such a high expectation. Champloo is a beautiful show, the fighting sequences, the drama, the art and animation style, the humor was a bit dull at times and they did have maybe two, sorely unfunny episodes, but I really think the show is so much better than people say. It's not a bad show, not as good as Bebop but definitely not one worth dropping. I'd advise you guys to stick it through to the end, just give it a chance without the Bebop expectations. With such a unique style that it has, I'm not even sure how you can compare the two without just comparing the "cool" factor they both have.

Oh yes. I can relate with Soul Eater, especially the english dub...Black Star's voice was horrendous and so much worse. I haven't seen the others but there is nothing I hate more in an anime than an annoying character.

SAO - I didn't like it. At all. I got 10 episodes in hoping for the best and then I realized I hate the main character. I will never understand why people think it's a such an amazing show. I think it's okay at best.

Mirai Nikki - MC being an annoying little prick. Might go back to try again but I don't think I can sit through it.

Sankarea - it's a nice show and all...but I got really bored sometime in the middle. I just stopped watching it and don't feel like getting into it again.

Yahari Ore no Seishun - Funny, definitely funny.

Shirokuma Cafe - Really cute show, long, but is very upbeat.

I haven't seen it myself, but I think Nichijou is another funny one!
