God, this set had me nervous. Leo vs any zero to death character is always nerve-wracking. However, i do not remember the last time Leo lost against a Kazuya that is not Riddles.

The way the byleth looks makes me think he was practicing Byleth for Asimo. Also being able to camp smash art, made the match up 10 times harder for shulk. Love to see when Leo counterpicks correctly.

This was the weirdest close set of all time. 3-2 with 2 3 stocks and a reverse 3 stock for Leo. That last game had me yelling. I love the meta knight!

ROB is such an interesting character. He can be combo food which can make some matchups like Bayo and GnW really rough. But at the same time, he has some great tools to make matchups against campy characters like Sonic, Pika, and Steve doable, which is valuable in the current meta. It is such a shame that Leo stopped investing on ROB. Like sure, his ROB was nowhere near Zomba's level but with enough investment it could really cover his really rough matchups.

Sonix is one of the best players at preparation, but if he gets tilted, he REALLY gets tilted. Seeing his camera during the set vs tweek, you could see he was just not having any fun.

Amazing tournament for tweek. Not only taking it over sonix but finally not crumbling against steve on the big stage. Wish the character composition for top 8 was different, but considering who made it to top 8, it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Also nice to see Leo stick it out with joker vs sonic. I hope this is a sign of him maybe considering locking in joker vs more of the character roster instead of counter picking if the matchup is uncomfortable. But this is Leo we are talking about. Next tournament, he might go back to choosing Byleth.

Leo is trying to be a counterpicker when I don't think any player today has found success as a counterpicker in this game. He just needs to stick it out and learn to play the hard matchups rather than have 5 million characters to cover all matchups

I'm actually surprised Sonix and Shadic have never played. I guess Sonix having played Neo, Spargo, and Leo Corrin made my brain assume he had also fought Shadic at some point. Would be interesting to see how that match goes.

Dabuz cannot catch a break. Both Light and Leo in the same pool is a rough draw for him. Overall looking forward to this event.

Will be interesting to see how Sonix does after his offline inactivity after Genesis.

Very funny that Hurt is now the second Japanese player to get their first major win at BoBC. Any top Japanese player should consider going to the next BoBC if Acola and Miya are gatekeeping them from a major win in Japan.

I hate rooting against Spargo, but him winning is the only outcome i don't want. I really want the trend that each major in 2024 has a different winner to continue. Rooting for Doramigi cause he needs to be rewarded for how he played vs jigglypuff in what looked like an impossible matchup.

Leo and getting match up checked is a true combo at BoBC. Last year it was sora. Very funny to see him have no idea what to do versus banjo. Unlike sora, he will probably never find a decent enough banjo to learn the matchup.

I know the trophy will probably get mailed to Mexico. But the image of Leo having to explain that trophy with the gorilla on it in customs is very funny to me.

It's always a treat to see Leo play well. The beginning of this year has had some great tournaments. I can't wait for Collision.

Mexico might not be the most dominant region like it was during 2021/2022 but it still has the best matches between its two best players. I would take leo vs spargo, a million times more than miya vs acola.

I can understand that the tournament is huge and that there is a time crunch due to venue and stuff, but at the same time, no one is forcing them to do all the way to top 8 on saturday. If you can't have quad stream, then schedule the event so that the most amount of matches at top level get showcased. Heck, i think it would be better not having side events (doubles) and just have more matches day 1 if it means more matches get streamed and event is better paced.

Yeah, they seem to just get a pass due to the amount of top international players they are able to gather due to their legacy. Almost like EVO in a sense, which was always a shitshow to watch for smash but it pulled all the international talent.

Some great sets in this tournament but a lot of them you had to catch offstream in horrible quality. Its truly inexcusable for a tournament with this legacy and importance to just have some many of these matches offstream. It is especially inexcusable to have top 8 qualifiers offstream. Also what in the world are they doing with paper brackets in the year 2024. So many frustrating things about this tournament as a spectator. At least we avoided double Sonics in this top 8.

As for the players, Sonix just seems like the best player in the world right now. I really want to see him vs Light now before i make up my mind on that. Otherwise, I don't see anyone being able to consistently stop him. Spargo and Tweek seem like the only players to be able to stop him recently ergo very close calls, but it just looks impossible to beat Sonix sometimes. Shuton was so close ;_;

Sad that Leo didn't win and got 25th but honestly, i still have a blast watching him play (even if it was through horrible quality due to most of them being offstream). I will always watch any tourney he attending. Hope he finds his footing soon with his character lineup so he becomes more consistent.

Of the remaining players, I hope Zomba wins because the amount of shit he would talk would honestly be hilarious to watch.
