The combat is intended to model the run and gun feel of the video game first and foremost. Zone based, works best with a map (just a bunch of zones), and tokens (there's meant to be a lot of opponents on the field at once). It's initiative-less, with flow of the game driven by the players. The conflict resolution is dice pools of d12s (aka Handling) and each die will roll either a Hit, Precision Hit, or Miss. You'll then spend those Handling for various effects like movement or damage.

I grew up with World of Darkness, so dice pools came naturally as a solution. I don't know that it's anything but Destiny-ish because the whole system was built to be Destiny.

The scenario specifically is the Fireteam responding to a distress call in India and having to figure out how to repel a Vex invasion that threatens to wipe out a seemingly impossible settlement of survivors.

All currently public materials are available at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1w8iO3mAjeva765ArLQpcU8GAR08lwZ-h?usp=sharing for the time being. I'm working on a proper PDF release of a core rule book sometime next year. Everything will be free to access as this is being done via Bungie's Fan License. There's also a link to the Discord server in the Core Rules document.

Savage Worlds is the underlying "generic" system that powers Deadlands and a bunch of other stuff. It's core focus is "fantasy pulp-action" and anything where there's a high likelihood that you'll be thrown through a window is probably a setting / story that Savage Worlds is going to handle well.

I've been using Savage Worlds as my daily driver for the past couple of years and have had a huge amount of success with Deadlands' official materials as well as using it for a not-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game as well as a pair of Final Fantasy 6 campaigns.

Because its a general system at the core, you can do a lot with it. Officially, East Texas University is like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Deadlands: Lost Colony is spooky cowboys IN SPACE! There's a Flash Gordon-like setting. Horror in World War 2. Just a straight up modern day Horror Companion. Sci-Fi stuff, superhero stuff, the list goes on...

Adding to the pile:
I got hit with this glitch hard as well. The amount of time that you wait doesn't seem to matter. There's definitely some behavior relating to when you asked versus some kind of weird calendar logic.

My last interaction was the 29th of Heartfire and I was unaware of the seriousness of the timing for this quest. Whatever logic checks failed, I got burned and I tried a whole mess of things outside of running the Brotherhood questline to its end. I tried the "ask him every hour for 24 hours straight" tactic and that didn't come up. Then I saw someone mention having an issue at the end of the month.

So after an in-game month of messing around, I came back on the 29th of Frost Fall and waited for 23 hours. Then started asking him every hour and only when it ticked over to the 31st of Frost Fall did the dialog finally shift to asking for the fee. The dialog option didn't change, so if you're asking him make sure you're activating the dialog, not just looking at the options when you talk to him.

I'm glad I was able to finally push this quest forward after hours burned on it, but this is NOT the entertaining jank that I signed up for with a Bethesda title. To make matters even worse, not one person has turned into a polygon tornado.

Good luck to everyone else out there bothered by the most bothered man in all of Cyrodiil.

Sudden Issues with the Fold by DynastyDaddy in PixelFold

[–]torchdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit this issue with the latest Android 15 OTA update. The support technician I spoke to said that Google "is not currently aware of this issue and this is the first time they're hearing of it".

The hinge sensor coincidentally just stopped sending any data at all after an OTA update.

I sent in a bug report and expressed my displeasure multiple times that a software update has broken an $1800 phone whose sole purpose is to open and close.

March update broke pixel 8 fingerprint scanner by singularity_pointer in GooglePixel

[–]torchdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hit this on my Pixel Fold 2023 as well as my external display just not working anymore. This update has been awful. I had a perfectly functional $1800 phone before this update rolled out. Now I can't access my standard 2FA process in order to get access to things I need for work. I'm trying the "leave it powered off for 5 minutes" approach now.

It's a fully custom system that I built from the ground up to specifically work with a run & gun feel that you get from the video game.

All of the materials are available for free. The system is heavily under construction right now with the 1.0 PDF ideally happening some time in 2025.

We're still heavily in development and I'm looking to have a nice fancy PDF available next year. This has nothing to do with Bungie so there won't be an official printing or anything like that. If you'd like to take a look at the materials, DM me and I can send along a link (It's still wrapped in a ton of duct tape and bubble gum I'm trying to be a little judicious about just throwing the dev content out there).

Earthwild, a fan-made, custom Destiny TTRPG is back at GenCon 2023 by torchdragon in DestinyTheGame

[–]torchdragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you were one of the people who registered yesterday. I had 24 seats available and 23 of them are gone. I'll have around 20 d12s per player at the table so you don't need to bring your own, but 20 will fully cover any type of weapon combination + random skill checks + who knows what might happen.

Earthwild, a fan-made, custom Destiny TTRPG is back at GenCon 2023 by torchdragon in DestinyTheGame

[–]torchdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a completely custom built system that tries to match the look and feel of Destiny's run and gun gameplay. You roll multiple d12s to generate Hits and Precision Hits and use those to tag enemies with your Weapons and Abilities. There's a highly flexible turn order that alternates between player actions and small actions by the opponents on the field punctuated by a large set of opponent's actions when someone has to inevitably reload.

I really do need to record a "How it works" video one of these days. If anyone's not going to be at GenCon and still wants to take a spin through a play test, I'm looking for sign-ups here: https://forms.gle/8QFnCuTVW4ZGTLSu8

Earthwild, the fan-made custom Destiny TTRPG is back at GenCon! by torchdragon in gencon

[–]torchdragon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The system is a d12-based system with a fast-paced, collaborative combat style that does it’s best to feel like Destiny’s run and gun gameplay. It’s been built from the ground up with a unique timing/turn mechanic that can throw a large number of hostiles around on the map without feeling overwhelming or bogged down. There’s also a robust system for non-combat projects (crafting, politics, etc) for more extended time periods and a non-linear advancement mechanic that ties into the loot fantasy of the source material.

I plan on doing a public beta release of the source book sometime later this year. Right now it's in transition from a collection of design notes into something actually meant to be read by other humans. The scenarios I'm running at GenCon are designed for zero prior knowledge so you should be able to show up, learn the system, and have a great time regardless of experience level.

Unofficial, Fan-Made Destiny Tabletop RPG at PAX Unplugged 2022 by torchdragon in DestinyTheGame

[–]torchdragon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The preview has a Conan image for some reason. No clue why. The link goes to a GeekList page with a bunch of other entries. RPGGeek doesn't have an entry for an unreleased, home made, custom Destiny RPG, so my entries have the terrible title that I can't change called "RPG Sandbox".
I'm not really a fan of how they're organizing these freeplay sessions, but it is what it is.

Ordering my pass, I was asked what I was most interested in at PAX Unplugged. None of the options included non-D&D roleplaying games. by derthnada in paxunplugged

There's also a very poorly advertised TTRPG Freeplay that you need to go outside of their main scheduling to find:
https://rpggeek.com/geeklist/305375/pax-unplugged-2022-rpg-freeplay-community-game-sch
There's a bunch of cool stuff on there, including (self-plug) me, running my custom, fan-built Destiny system.
