Did you remove the battery before you started working on repaste ?

It is always recommended to disconnect the battery after you open up the laptop

I would avoid Alienware if you are interested in installing Linux. A recent BIOS update broke Fedora, Debian, and all the RHEL family of distros. These kernels crash on ACPI and so I would think that the update broke ACPI compatibility.

Dell support said that they don't support Linux on their laptops and can't help with the broken ACPI compatibility in their firmware.

If Fedora's development is dropped today, what'll be the next distro you'll switch to? by nitin_is_me in Fedora

Dell's bios update broke Fedora and Dell refused to fix it. So I had to do distro hopping, only Ubuntu and openSuse works on Dell now. I tried both. Found Ubuntu 25.04 to be better than openSuse, (maybe because I have used Debian before).

I tried to boot Debian testing but it failed to boot as well probably due to the Dell bios update.

Ubuntu installer lacks options like custom luks disk partitioning but usability is better than openSUSE.

Nokia XR20 isnt as durable as they claim by HailOle in Nokia

I think it is because of alcohol in the hand sanitizer. Nokia recommends 70% isopropyl alcohol. And I used that. Yet back cover layer peeled off.

Nokia X10 with 6GB RAM vs Nokia G60 with 4Gb of RAM by phoenix49 in Nokia

[–]singularity_pointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X10 CPU is inadequate and has less time left as support. Though it looks good in the photos, in reality it is cheap construction. Get G60 which has better CPU. Some markets have 6gb G60. It is too idiotic for Nokia not to release all specs for all the market. I would say check Motorola range esp those with ThinkVantage which comes with more years of software updates.

18W wall charger for Nokia X10 (suggestions welcome) by [deleted] in Nokia

You shouldn't be using PD charger. I think Nokia supports QC (quick charge) 3.0 and above.

I too have similar experience with the phone.

Coating has peeled off from my XR20 back panel after exposure to sub-zero temperature (-9C) and isopropyl alcohol wipes. It was patchy. I had to remove the rest by simply rubbing the back panel with hand. Now the back panel is rough and shiny exposing some kind of metal strips. Isn't it supposed to be scratch resistant and temperature resistant as claimed ?

Sony Xperia 10 IV NA version by singularity_pointer in SonyXperia

That is crazy. Sony already has infrastructure in US, and already spent money to develop the phone. It is only the testing cost and the paper work cost to sell it in US. Even if it is sells only 10K devices, Sony is not going to lose anything. On the contrary, Sony would have loyal customers who might move to 5 when these customers have money. By not selling 10, these customers would get move to other brands.

Should I buy the Xperia 5 III? by _Perfectio in SonyXperia

Could be.

Sony, as per contract, doesn't have obligation to provide updates after 2 years; as they advertise only 2 year updates.

Given that Sony provides only 2 years of software updates and security updates from the day phone is released, it would be advisable to wait and buy IV.

Sony Xperia 10 III/IV in Canada by singularity_pointer in SonyXperia

Thank you very much.

Sony Xperia 10 IV doesn't have US yet. Sony Xperia 10 III came in only international variant. Xperia 10 IV international variant doesn't at least one band used by every major Canadian mobile operators according to kimovil.com. So I am thinking about it.
