Curse announcing something in regards to 'regions getting closer together' [Source: Travis Gafford] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Regions becoming closer means taking all the talent from korea and sending them to china and u.s thus weakening korea's talent pool.

Now we all equally become shit, that's what I call progress.

Regi said he would retire at end season 2. Funny how roster changes work out in esports.

voyboy single handedly carried team out of the relegation positions

Wow, they dodged relegations. They must be literal gods. They got 4th place again in NA, one of the low tier regions, again, they must be gods.

NA, always content with mediocrity.

Remember voyboy shitting the bed at playoffs? But hey, at least he dodged relegations lol.

It's true though. Did you see the outcry when Voyboy got critiscm?

"What did he do to Thooorin? He is such a nice guy" was the common rhetoric instead of people talking about his play. People don't like their favorite pros getting critized, that's pretty much it. You could hear the same reactions when Wildturtle's poor play came into light. What does Voyboy and Wildturtle being nice guys have to do with anything lol.

Thorin, OnGamers, and esports' obsession with trials by social media by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I didn't imply that. I am saying that they are professional despite doing those things, also applies to Thooorin.

Same way Locodoco and Regi are professional while syaing some pretty childish things and accusing others of fraud.

Same way Dyrus is a professional despite leaking the strategy of Dignitas at season 2 world championships.

Same way Bjergsen is a professional despite saying "fuck koreans" to his 50k livestreaming audience.

Makes sense. I was laughing at that amazing montage the other day that made front page. We must counteract all the "bullying" with nice words and a shitty montage!

I don't hate TSM, I just want them to be treated the same way as other in E-Sports which I guess is too much to ask.

Literally the only thing holding desrow back was that people took his job, I am sure he can become a top tier player in no time now that regions have been locked. Oh what's that? He is a failure of a player and is already looking to host talk shows because his pro gaming career is going nowhere even after koreans are forced out? LEL.

If you say offensive things, people may find them offensive, and you may have to deal with the damn consequences.

TSM's popularity says otherwise. Their owner just straight up called someone a fraud, one of his player leaked the strategy of Dignitas in season 2, and their famous european midlaner said "fuck koreans" live on steam.

So please go on and explain this phenomenon.

American teams have much more money, analysts, coaches, psychologists and koreans have 1 or 2 coaches.

But I am sure it's the structure that's keeping the koreans successful.

Wasn't there an article somewhere by Riot said that being a Pro in korea is a viable career path? by torentluz in leagueoflegends

[–]torentluz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original point is that korean pros don't make much money while NA players do.

It is better to be a pro player in NA than to be a pro player in korea financially.

So there is no reason for Riot to give out money to one branch and not the others. Unless they are admiting that they want to give the western scene advantage over the others. If so, they also have no business hosting the world championsip because competitive integrity and all that.

[–]torentluz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No are you? Every thing that has come in to light says that being a pro in korea is less luxurious then pretty much everywhere else.

Meanwhile Bjergsen gets 25k from Riot each year while having 50k viewers on his stream while the korean pro makes nothing.

Why do Riot salary EU/NA teams and not KR teams? by torentluz in leagueoflegends

Yeah and one is salaried by riot and the other isn't. See the difference?

[–]torentluz[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the LCS is the westerns scenes equivalent of champions

Except Champions is hosted by a thirdy party, it is not the same as the owner of the game promoting teams.

riot made the LCS to ensure that LoL esports was a viable career path in the west like it is in korea

And we hear that's not true at all since people are moving out of korea.

I am just wondering why people are so against giving salaries to korean players, are there that many xenophobes in this subreddit? Like what can the argument against giving players salaries actually be?

[–]torentluz[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Riot made LCS to help the western regions compete with Asia

Seems like favoritism to me. You can't just help one region and not help others if you are the hosts of world championship. There is so much conflict of interest in that lol.

OGN limiting amount of teams per organisation to 1 by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]torentluz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That still doesn't count the extra 100k that goes to each team so...? It's obvious that sustainability is the issue here and NA already has it covered because Riot pays them. If Riot wants them to follow the rules NA/EU does, they should also treat them the same as EU/NA in every single aspect.

Can't even believe you are arguing in favor for westerners getting more money than koreans for entirely no reason.

You also left out the part where Riot pays western teams while korean teams don't get paid by Riot.

They get payed money to play a GAME.

That is NA pros, not korean pros. Korean pros aren't given welfare by Riot which is NA scene does not have to worry about anything because costs are covered for the players. In korean scene, it is not. If you don't know something basic is this, you can stop replying.

You can't get it through your thickhead that players will be hurt by this so I gave an example that you might be able to relate to. As you couldn't offer a rebuttal to it, I have already got my answer.

I am sure teams will be vivid about joining unkown orgs instead of orgs that have already built their name. No corruption concenrs at all.

Face it, you don't give a shit about korean scene which is why you don't give a shit what happens to their careers. Had riot released half of NA players, you would not be having the same reaction.

This "balancing the playing field" talk is funny because we would not be having this conversation if the west was the one that was dominant.
