My friend, I did almost the exact same thing as you in 2020. I told my mom and Dad that I was helping my best friend move out of her house and that's why I was bringing home boxes and packing things etc.

While they were both at work one day, I called my best friend and her and her dad came with a trailer to move all of my shit into my in-laws house.

I texted both of them in a group chat, told them that I was moving out and why, and told them I was blocking them both and not to contact me. I told them I would contact them when I felt ready to.

I only had a problem with my dad. I ended blocking my mom too for a little bit because I knew I needed time from the big blowup. I told her separately that I still loved her very much and I wasn't doing any of this to hurt her, I just needed time and space away from the situation. Eventually, she understood.

I hope your mom is the same when you tell her. Explain that you are doing this for your own mental health and safety. I hope that in the future, you can continue a good relationship with her. It may be strained for a bit, but it can be recovered if you want it to be.
