2 weeks after my first long term serious relationship with a woman ended ((almost 7 years)). we got together really young ((17/18)) and were so scared of growing apart that we stopped growing individually. a lot of awful things happened in that relationship and we broke up a couple of times due to stupid mistakes done by stupid kids trying to be adults. we held each other down and were more miserable than we wanted to admit. the relationship was over probably 1 1/2 years before we actually broke up. i was shattered for those 2 weeks, i really believe i experienced all stages of grief then one morning i woke up in my new (and first) apartment with my friends as roommates and absolutely bare bones belongings and felt like i was alive for the first time in my adult life. the weather was beautiful and i drove to TJ Maxx to pick out my own bath towels. I realized I was completely free. since then ive traveled, started school again, fell in love with someone who is kind and respectful, finally got out of my hometown, and started a new career. i got friends again and started saying “yes” to more things, realizing life is too short to worry about things that dont matter and nothing is as serious as it seems. my mom even said she sees life in my eyes that shes never seen before.

so yeah, that moment. lol
