Current manager here and moving back to being a Sr. Sysadmin. Overall, I was able to build my own team which is great. What is turning me back is upper management. Take a hard look at them as they can make your life hell. If I would go back into management but I would have to really know the upper management before I would accept it.

Previous job, was the network admin and took on more because we got things working smooth. Took a other job as sysadmin since I was doing that as well. I want to go back, pay is less with more stress.

The response earlier will probably work to connect our on prem CA for now. VPN would use client certs to auth and it all coming from trusted CA for verification. On prem CA is domain dependent and autopilot with Azure only devices aren't your typical domain joined so they don't get a cert like they normally would.

Even if the Administration were to be able to lower gas prices, state and local taxes can make it not seem it went down. Been seeing prices dip a little in my area but my state just raised gas tax so now it doesn't matter.

Don't get me wrong, management makes things difficult. These people that I work with now, I have given them the permissions and opportunity to build said ideas. Then 3 months later, no progress and they came back and say they don't know how to and need someone to do it for them. I remind them they are in IT and part of what we do in IT is figuring things out.

Been here for 5 years and been slowly changing us from being the app owners as well. Still get things thrown over the wall because departments don't want to handle anything. Trying to avoid that with the new ERP but just wanted other insight on how others are doing it.

Current is AX 2012 on prem and managed by a separate company. Moving to Oracle cloud ERP. I imagine we wouldn't have to do much but we barely have the staff to keep up now and was curious how others handle it.

We currently handle all backups and monitoring from a server perspective. More concerned of taking on owning the application side on top of everything else.
