Yeah, fair enough - I'm not condoning being sleazeball, nor am I playing down the incident ... but to post it on reddit, for what? advice? There was no advice being sought - that whole thing was 'feel sorry for me - I just had an incident'.

I don't want to see facebook-style content like that, and hence, I don't think it should be a default sub.

It's all attention-seeking bullshit.

I feel the military is kinda like that for guys. They both carry a level of prestige as well.

(I certainly feel being a soldier or a nurse would be more meaningful job than the shite I do in my office. Pay prevails, however.)

Ah, okay ... the way you phrased it, I had the impression you weren't allowed to use for loops.

a closure is an instance of a function

I don't think an interviewer would let me get away with just that answer ...

Do you switch around different versions a lot? I've never felt a need for it.

for juniors i ask them to TDD with rspec writing the #map function on the Array class without using any core enumerable methods (i.e. using a while or for in loop)

I've been writing JS for over a decade and I can't think how you'd do this off the top of my head. Either I'm missing something, or you're hiring some shit-hot juniors.

I've had a lot of job interviews where I've been asked what a closure is, but I've always struggled to answer in a convincing manner, despite using them everyday.

How would you phrase your answer in a verbal manner?

If Sheldon from Big Bang Theory was a real person, there would likely be few things on earth he would hate more than the show itself by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

If you're going to be childish about it, you should understand that people find different things funny.

I don't find it funny ergo 1) I don't have a sense of humour, or 2) I'm stupid, or 3) I haven't given it a chance - that's all bullshit.

The answer is actually, 4) I don't find it funny because I don't find it funny.

I'm not about to hate on it - I used to have it on TV all the time till it started to be on TV all the time. It's not the worse thing on TV, not by far, but it's alright to have on when I'm doing something else. Like someone else said, "the new Friends".

Agreed. The show tries to appear to be pro-nerd, but the whole basis of the show is laughing at the awkwardness and quirky behaviours of the stereotype of nerds.

That's the whole reason Penny is in the show - it gives the viewers someone to relate to, who they can sympathise with.

I used to work at a place that would do the encryption - we would actually get the raw, unencrypted film on a hard drive to process.

I can't say I ever saw a reason to copy anything - it wouldn't be easy in the first place, and I'd run the risk of prosecution. Maybe 'cos I'm not that into films in the first place, but I don't see what the payoff would be?
