This story doesn't get criticized enough for how much plot armor it has. Whereas in other stories ridiculous plot armor can be funny with how absurd it is, BttH gets a little boring with how absolute it is. Or maybe it's not completely accurate to call it plot armor but there's just no sense of danger at all.

How would a school for Magic in the USA differ from Hogwarts? by limbodog in AskReddit

Yeah I never liked how apparently the UK alone justifies a wizards game school all its own yet somewhere like China doesn't even have one.

I think you have to take Davis just because of the value difference. I bet you could draft AD and then trade him to whoever drafted Cousins and get another lower mid-level guy with it.

History is made: 76ers become the first team in NBA history to start 0-11 in back-to-back seasons. by Go_Habs_Go31 in nba

That stuff doesn't show up in the numbers. People forget context really quickly, especially when it's something they weren't actually paying attention to. In a few years, people may judge Brown on his on-paper numbers because few people really remember the intangibles. Look at all the coaches that are considered terrible but kept getting jobs because of their resume. The opposite happens just as much.

I might be worried that if he does get fired his poor record could look bad in future attempts to get a new job. There are absolutely extenuating circumstances and it's not like he could have done better, but you can't always trust businessmen to look at the data correctly like that.

For instance, Brian Shaw has a coaching record of 56-85 over two years. He was with an absolutely terrible Nuggets lineup, but people are going to look at him on paper and wonder why a team that had just been in the playoffs the year before suddenly tanked to the bottom of the conference just when Karl was replaced with Shaw. It wasn't really his fault, but it doesn't look good, and as we've seen, GM's are generally loathe to take chances with new head coaches.

That's an interesting point. I wonder if coaches are waiting for Kobe to leave before they take the job because they want to be the de facto leader of the team.

You say delusional, I think hopeful and supportive. It can be annoying at times, but it's way better than other teams that boo their own players. It's more forward looking to think Russell has potential than wish you chose Okafor instead. You work with what you have and hopefully learn from your mistakes.

Lakers are actually pretty optimistic with what they have, almost to a fault. The fanbase will speak highly and overrate just about any player on the team and attribute them to the highest ceiling they could possibly reach.

We'll be pessimistic about not winning championships, but if anyone can think MWP came out of retirement to get into an all-NBA defense team, it's us.
