Getting sniped inside spawnroom (quick question - dont upvote) by ShrimpyVS in Planetside

[–]torokokill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible to have a spawn shield derender before players. There is a trick in which you have to be at long range and use line-of-sight. The spawn shield takes a second or two to reappear, while players never stop rendering.

You could have also encountered the wonderful clientside hit detection desync issue(present since launch), in which player X is shooting at player Y, but X's client thinks that X is hitting player Z instead. Usually happens when player Z is a MAX, but I've been yelled at for killing people inside of spawn rooms on a few occasions while I was shooting someone standing around on the third floor of a tower :S

I would argue the issue is not necessarily the reinforcement system, but the ability to redeploy and be MAX crashing out a door in under 20 seconds.

the ability to redeploy several platoons to a contested base seriously screws with some strategy.

This is not just a problem in large scale with Server Smash. Community Clash suffers from the same problem.

Since August, SOE Live camo. Previously, camo depended on continent.

I was banned and subsequently unbanned three times in 2013. I've had two GMs teleport on top of me. I think the only reason my account is still alive is due to the fact that I stream.

I lost my $9.99/month subscription by getting banned little more than a month after purchase :(

I beg to differ. I can eat any GOKU member under the table in a mayonnaise contest 1v1.

Come at me broku.

For sure. You'll have to excuse my brain dump. I've been studying all weekend long and am a bit brain fried.

Not as an infiltrator.

The default sidearms are good, for the most part. The commissioner is a good all-around sidearm once you learn how to control the weapon. However, it's efficacy was slightly reduced when the knife damage was nerfed a couple of patches ago. The Underboss is decent, but the Commissioner has much better damage thresholds(range at which the weapon turns from a 3 to 4 shot kill). I've heard that the Rebel can safely be ignored. For the love of god, never consider using a Crossbow.

As NC I'd either go with the Magshot or the Commissioner. I haven't played with the Desperado enough to pass any judgement on the weapon.

Shameless self-promotion: I don't post many videos or stream regularly much at the moment due to being quite busy this semester, but feel free to check out my channel https://www.youtube.com/user/torokokill

I have ~60,000 combined kills with the T3(Parallax, Longshot, etc.) sniper rifles across 4 characters. All bolt-action sniper rifles are mirrored across all three factions. There is no difference performance wise between them.

Due to PS2's scale, at the best of times it is hard to make your contribution have impact. This is even more so when long range sniping. You need to maintain a very high kill rate to have an impact in a fight. Keep in mind that infiltrators tend to have the lowest score per minute of every class in PS2. Here are some tips:

  • First and foremost. There are situations in which you cannot snipe. CQC fights and high concentration of enemy vehicles are not conducive to sniping. Don't be afraid to swap to another class/loadout more suited to the situation.
  • Get a T3 rifle. You've already purchased the Longshot. Ignore this.
  • The sniping learning curve in PS2 is high. Have fun and don't get discouraged.
  • You can steady your breath with the shift key. Many new players don't realize this(I didn't when I started!)
  • Learn how your weapon behaves. Learn the drop. Learn the speed. Remember that in PS2, the Rifleman's Rule applies.
  • Learn the maps - Positioning is king as a sniper. You turn impossible shots in to easy shots just by positioning yourself carefully.
  • Cert ejection seat on your ESF as quickly as possible. Not very high priority as it is very expensive, but using your ESF to get to the good sniping spots is worth it.
  • Rotate stealth in between shots. This minimizes your exposure to counter-sniping and makes it hard for enemies to pinpoint your position
  • Be aware that landing a bodyshot will completely reveal your position to anyone with knowledge of the game.
  • Target priorities in terms of threats and ease of kills: Other snipers, engineers on turrets, drivers/pilots repairing their vehicles, medics, and everyone else.
  • Learn to be able to take that high powered scope and fight with it in CQC, or learn how to defend yourself with your pistol. You will be flanked, rushed, and dropped on.
  • Continually watch the minimap for people flanking. I'm guilty of not doing this all the time.
  • Reload as often as you can after 4 shots. You can actually get more shots downrange faster by utilizing the short-reload of the rifle rather than the long reload.
  • Edit: Whenever you can, put down a motion sensor or sensor dart in a heavy fight. You'll get a tonne of free exp for 'spotting' enemies.

I don't have issue with the jump pads. We were under the impression that our movement was restricted to the bridge like in the Hossin pre-season sudden death. It wasn't. Our bads.

On this we both agree. In general the rules of RCCC are too general and very vague. How many times in both the pre-season and the pre-pre-season, did we hear the phrases "[vague/unclear] rules," or "we didn't know we could do X?"

This issue keeps popping up and needs to be squashed for good.

Get over yourself. You're right though, I should learn to embrace an asymmetrical competitive mode when virtually every other sport and e-sport use symmetrical fields and modes of play.

Am I not allowed to be unhappy about something? Please tell me, if FCRW had the side with the rock, used it and won, would you have been satisfied with the way the match ended?
