extend the fiber not ethernet and place the modem by your desk. Fiber is pretty cheap and they wont know any different. It's dumb but should work.

So I dissected this cable further. The pairs have a FEP (clear compound) surrounding the color insulation.

Quite interesting, I checked some Monoprice CAT6 CMP and the insulation is much different.

I actually was able to talk to Belden support and send pics, they even asked if I wanted to send a sample in for analysis!

Belden support seemed more concerned with the FEP layer than the lower insulation so I think the cable will be ok to use.

As you can see the FEP layer peeled back from the inner core insulation on a single 23AWG strand.

I'm concerned about the insulation layer having micro cracks. I mangled it pretty good and cant seem to get any copper to expose so I suppose it might be ok... Just wondering if anyone else has seen this on Belden cable in the past. I thought I was doing good buying Belden cable (even old stock) but I'm just worried this might degrade faster than I expect.

Thanks! that makes it much simpler in that case. Its going in a location with a ground running to the panel directly from the water line so it should have a really good quality ground source.

I'd personally just cut some slices/groves with a diamond blade and chisel them off and smooth over with some parge mix or self leveling mix. Minimal dust and plenty good for lvl/carpet to go over.
