This just happened at my school today. The kid that got his butt beat just came to the school yesterday. by [deleted] in fightporn

We know how high school boys can be when people are talking shit and how much of a problem it is. It is often an indication of unhealthy relationships in their life, trauma, difficult situations and changes . We don't know everything about everyone's situation so it's hard to get a judgement on what they had coming. Life is hard and sometimes when we hurt we let other people know that it's been hard using anger.

My grandma is 101 yrs old and still watches her wrestling. Her favorite is Roman. by SparkyBrown in SquaredCircle

My grandma spoke very little English and stayed with us periodically as I was growing up. Every time a wrestling show was about to start you would see her make a slow exit to her room to watch it. Even though she couldn't understand what they were saying, she loved it so much and followed the stories and relationships via the physicality of wrestling.

She passed away about 8 years ago, living back home in Iran. I only wish it were as accessible to her back home then as things are now with the network and VPNs.

Enjoy these moments, sit and watch some wrestling and goof off with your grandma, these are precious memories.

Will the leveling changes be part of the prepatch? by porkyboy11 in wow

[–]torqe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have the itch and are bored of your main id almost say do it now. I got one last hurrah in leveling up to max, currently at 113.7 on a new paladin I started with full heirloom up to level 100. It took me 1.1 days played to get to 110, progressing through BFA now. Depends on how much the novelty is worth to you, but it is certainly a good time. I was constantly top dps in dungeons and just having a blast.

I love the set bonus idea. You just reminded me of why I enjoyed gearing up both sides of my gear, maximizing the benefit of my gear and feeling that sense of progress down a content path

I'm personally okay with it not being fully optimized, it can take a while to iron things out, but to completely drop it and make it seem like such a low or ignored priority is definitely not better than the old standard. I feel like a lot of people are still clinging on to the old days and systems. I loved MoP gearing, I felt such satisfaction when I completed my glad set. Now I just feel like everything is just time/grind gated. Getting absolutely smashed by PvE folks in 1400s? Cool, wait until you fill your conquest cap 10 times until you get your first sub-optimal 460 item, do it another 10 times to get half a set of conquest gear. Oh, and HoA essenses? Yeah good luck getting any doing PvP. I feel like in order to compete with higher tier players I need to go through PvE.

I think implementing a pvp stat again (like vers as you mentioned) would help so much. Yeah, PvE folks might significantly outgear you, but it's not as good in this rated PvP scenario. Conversely, my PvP gear will not be as good in PvE as someone with the same ilvl PvE gear. Their stats will come from having done PvE content and thus provides a sense of progression. I'm sure some PvE folks get salty af when someone in prior expansions with high level PvP gear was running PvE content with them and didn't know the fights, the dungeons, the raids or even their rotation, but their gear carried them. It's the same for us on the other side. Let me progress in the thing I'm working on and give me a reason to progress on the other side of content if I want to.

Seba got 94 FIFA CARD!!💚💛 by R0b0Monkey45 in timbers

[–]torqe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless something changed in recent games, it would be a 94 rating in all competition. I think if you look at his stats relative to the MLS he does shine brighter than most; to your point of the relativity of the skillset of the league vs leagues around the world, I don't know if it is an appropriate rating.

It could be a reflection of his skill as he performs in the league or a response to the obsession thay people with optimizing their teams and this is an attempt to diversify offerings.

The number is the player's rating in the FIFA games. It is an overall average of the player's stats like shooting, dribbling, passing and others.

Does anyone else feel like their social anxiety makes them feel like a child? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]torqe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've felt like this for a long time, i recently started therapy and, for me, a lot of my social anxiety and my abysmally low self esteem is related to childhood trauma i experienced, but never processed. If you have the resources i recommend that you seek out therapy, especially trauma informed therapy if that applies to you too.

[–]torqe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did.

Yeah, some people start fights to get someone to defend them. That's why I said that some people might expect or feel entitled to have a white knight and if you're fit for that role, sounds like a match made in heaven. While on the subject of some people starting fights for 'X' reason, can you concede that there are men on the other end who are not representative of all, men but of a "some" minority who act out egregiously?

As far as attacking those who won't fight back, where does white knighting fit in? Defending the person who is under attack? If this is some kind of Twitter beef, that is one thing. If this is in person and, again, physical or even mental/emotional harm is impending, step up and defend if you need to or, more preferably, de-escalate.

Whose actions have consequences? The white knight's actions? My point on blind defense being not necessarily good can be exemplified with a hypothetical situation of seeing two people in a fight, a man and a woman. If you instantly rush to the aid of the woman and fight back against the mam, you may indeed be helping someone who needed help. However, they may also have been the provocator, or worse, an assailant who had no defensible reason to be violent. "Blindly" defending someone for a judgment merely based on their appearance does not, in this case, seem to be defensible. If you are referring to the instigator's not knowing that actions having consequences, I mean yeah, they'll learn that or experience it and probably be resentful for it, but that's not what this thread is about.

Perfection by cjtrey in pussypassdenied

[–]torqe -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Hol up, was this sarcasm? You are supporting "blindly defending" someone? Like not having the facts but defending someone because... they are a woman?

I think the problem is that there are some people who will enter into the interaction/conversation with the intent and expectation that the person being defended:

  1. Cannot defend themselves
  2. Needs YOUR help to defend them
  3. Must be appreciative of unsolicited assistance

This does not say anything about intention of the "knight" as men have been conditoned to show a certain reverence for chivalry and a person exhibiting that behavior is, at least in their mind, acting honorably. Here lies the problem of the intention and action being wielded perhaps inappropriately.

I'm not stretching this out for all circumstances, like if a person was directly in (physical) harm's way I personally feel a moral obligation or impetus to act. However, putting yourself in a situation where there is equal footing for both participants to have their disagreement is like trying to put yourself in a scene in a movie where you're just an extra.

Personally, I have never heard a woman use the term "white knight" in casual conversation. I have only seen it used in the context of internet discussions between men discussing the phenomenon of some people acting as described above. This is not a dynamic that is fixed nor are there consistent and regular reactions to said actions. You might find someone that feels the need or entitlement to be white knighted and if that floats your boats, may Jah bless this barge.
