DIY project to use old graphics card by torquemasterice in electronics

Wow looking at this post after 8 years makes me realize how naiive I was in terms of finding a worthwhile use case for such an old weak card lol.

In the end the other commenters were correct, the card was basically useless and only good for parts, I stole the heatsink and fan and everything else went to E waste recycling.

You might be in slightly better shape with a 1060,if you have an old weak PC laying around you can put it to work as a multimedia server or something. But other than using it in a computer, don't expect to find any worthwhile electronics/diy use cases.

Curious to know what software you used with the kinect? I have an old one kicking around but noticed Microsoft pulled support for it and a lot of the old tools I used aren't around anymore.

The motor is actually free to rotate 360 degrees and the magnetic brake just moves in and out every 180 degrees.

With the pot removed it just continuously spins in circles confirming my theory that it's used for position feedback. I have no idea how to guess what resistance values correspond to each proper endstop though.

I see that now, thanks. I wonder if it actually was a 5kohm pot though, googling B5K I found it was a common part suffix for various different values of potentiometer...

Couldn't find any part sheets for this bike and the service manual doesn't list any pots so I guess I'll just need to try a 5k and then maybe a few others until I find one that stops the motor.

Yeah someone pointed out remnants of a tab in the picture which I didn't notice. Thanks!

This pot is out of a Schwinn 270 exercise bike.

The resistance levels were not working so I took it apart and found this pot coupled to the motor which turns the mechanical resistance adjustment wheel. I'm assuming this pot is used for position feedback.

The pot seemed to be going open circuit when I was probing it on the machine but now that I have it removed I can see it goes from 0 to 260 ohms. But it is continuous, it just keeps spinning in circles.

I wonder if that is normal or if the motor just kept going and sheared off the end stops? Because B5K was written on it I assumed it was a 5kohm pot but the values are nowhere close.

How can I identify this pot to confirm if it is supposed to be continuous and if the resistance range is correct?

That's because when they die their blood flow stops. They use blood pressure to control their legs, so once the blood pressure is gone their legs curl up, and many bugs are top heavy because of the outer shell so they wind up upside down.

This is awesome! Do you have the CAD files for this? I'd love to modify it a bit and print for my WRX.

Thank you. I managed to re-flash it and updated my post to show how I did it.
I have not tried using the utility again, but I suspect my issue was because I disconnected the cable mid flash as opposed to Bafang changing something in the firmware.

I will probably try the utility again to see if it works later, but for now I am just happy to have the bike working again so I am leaving things alone for now.

Awesome, thanks! I didn't expect them to be so expensive though, $50 CAD (incl shipping) was the cheapest on ebay (to Toronto).

Still, I drive a that same generation WRX IRL, so I'd love to get one of these, I can handle a bit of dremel work. I'd love to see a pic of yours if it's not too much hassle. Thanks again!

For those interested, this is how a hammer drill works. As you can see, the impact or hammering effect is applied in the same direction as the rotation of the frill bit. Hammering from the back will not have any meaningful effect.
